I’ll be honest—I didn’t think I needed the Subminimal Flick WDT Tool. It’s usually marketed for espresso prep, and I use it solely for pour over. But after trying it out, I’m pleasantly surprised at how much more consistent my brews have become.🛠️ Top-Notch Build Quality: This isn’t your average piece of coffee gear. Distributing grounds evenly before brewing has noticeably reduced channeling and helped me achieve more balanced extractions. It’s not magic, but it’s pretty darn close.🧐 Is It Essential? Probably not. But is it useful? Absolutely. The media could not be loaded. The quality of the WDT tool is great, super sleek design and has some weight to it so it feels high end. Not only does it look and work great, its super fun to use! Just press the button and the needles come out, then flick it back and they pop back in!It comes with extra needles if something happens and also a stand to hold it upright on your coffee bar. If you are short on space, it is also magnetic and can attach to the side of your machine.It is worth the price and it works so much better than the cheap WDT I was using before that I can say with confidence that it will have a permanent spot on my coffee bar!

My review is not sponsored, thoughts are my own!All around the Flick is well-made and extremely simple to use. It comes assembled with needles in place, as well as some extras for future. Also comes with a stand for quick access, or a magnetic wall mount if you prefer that. The button-triggered needle release is super simple, and just flip upside down to retract by an internal sliding magnet mechanism. Really straightforward!I've liked the needle diameter on this tool – stiff enough to do the job without causing more clumping, and not so thin and weak that it doesn't hold up to the coffee. Great puck prep tool, definitely recommend.Bonus: excellent for travel given the full needle retraction, no concerns of bending those!

A fun, small, attractive, and well built WDT tool that actually does a good job distributing coffee. A good buy, your friends will want to play with it!

Everyone has a workflow that works for them, so this may or may not be your thing, but I’m very happy with my purchase.My workflow includes a blind shaker so I just need a WDT tool to level out the bed during prep. Traditional WDT tools didn’t work for me since I don’t leave tools out on my coffee bar, and they all seemed to require the use of a stand. So they never stored away very well.This tool not only offered me convenient storage on the side of the machine, but also blends in well with the machines anthracite panels. The magnet is strong, doesn’t move with repeated use, and provides me with quick one handed access to level the coffee bed. Super easy! The tool came packaged very well, feels solid in the hand and the needles are easy to clean. Some people don’t like the needle thickness, but for my use it works perfectly. Well worth the money.

Good quality and fun to use! Decided to cough up the extra cash to get this over WDT tools with open needles and stands. I wanted to be able to pull it out of a draw, use it quickly, then toss it back in the draw without much thought. This works perfectly for this use case! No fiddling around trying to place it into a stand and bending the needles. Satisfyingly pops out and flicks away. Would recommend!

The idea is great. Retractable needles is something I wish more WDT tools had. But the execution is just not there for this one.First, the needles are too thick. They don't break up clumps so much as push them around.Second, the flick mechanism is cool but also means the needles retract WAY too easily. Sometimes if I'm trying to push the needles down deeper into the bed, the needles will slide up a bit. Other times, they slide up when I'm trying to clean them.The second wouldn't be a problem if there were some way to keep the needles out by force, perhaps by holding down the button on top, because right now that just seems to be a release for the magnets holding the needles inside the pen and can't actually push the needles out.

Very solid product. I get great results using this WDT tool. It is easy to use and I appreciate that the needles are easy to release and hide. Also comes with a magnet for storage.
