Perfect Substitute for Amazon
Nice appearance and feel to the stick. Very similar to the Amazon one. Connected to WiFi instantly. Smooth user interface and plays all the well known streaming apps including Prime/Disney+/Netflix are all licenced and others. No buffering! The user interface is very friendly you’ll have no issues navigating. The remote is very responsive and has nice feel in your hand. Plenty of space to install your own apps. You can also get BBCi installed on the device - look on YouTube. All in all I'm very pleased with the product. Well worth the money.

Very Impressed.
I'm thoroughly impressed with the Thompson Streaming Box 270UK Plus! This little box has been a game-changer for my TV viewing experience. Easy to set up and intuitive to use, it streams my favorite shows and movies in stunning quality. The interface is user-friendly, and I've enjoyed access to a wide range of popular apps. For the price, I think it's an excellent value. Highly recommend for anyone looking to upgrade their TV experience!

Works very well.
Awesome piece of kit, I had to send a Firestick 4k max back as it had real issues with certain Dolby vision files, this streamer has no issues with the same kind of files.Easy to add any apps you want from the play store, easy to add 3rd party apps, super snappy, remote is much nicer than it looks in the pictures as in it doesn't feel as cheap as it looks.Came with a UK plug as well.Very happy.

Unfortunately unusable owing to significant performance issues.
Extremely disappointed by this. The device itself is nice and compact, remote is good with a useful selection of controls and buttons and the price for the features is great. Unfortunately the performance renders the device (at least in my case) useless. The device continually drops the WiFi connection requiring a manual reconnection to the network. It also frequently froze and could not be used until it was unplugged and plugged back in. When connected and working it is also significantly slower than other Android tv units. Apps would take a considerable time to load and often streaming would require 3 or 4 attempts due to the device taking too long to establish the connection with the streamed content. I've opted to return it for a alternative product as it simply doesn't perform well enough at all.

Great but
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ Great Streaming Box with a Mystery USB PortOverall, I’m impressed with the Thomson Plus 270. Picture quality is excellent (Dolby Vision looks brilliant on my TV), the interface is snappy, voice search works well, and sideloading apps like Kodi and X-plore was refreshingly simple. It even handled my Wi-Fi and streaming needs better than a Fire Stick I used previously. However—here’s the odd bit: the USB port. I tried two different USB sticks (FAT32, recognised on my PC), and even plugged in a powered USB hub with a working mouse... nothing was recognised. No cursor, no external drive, not even in apps like X-plore. I tested the same setup on a second unit and saw the same result. It might be a firmware limitation or something disabled by design, but there’s no clear documentation either way.Just curious if anyone else has had similar issues. If USB storage or accessories aren’t supported, it would be great to know upfront. All that said, I like the device enough that I’ve repurchased it and stuck with wireless transfers for now. It's worth it for the streaming performance alone—but don’t count on using the USB port unless someone out there knows the secret handshake!

Better than a firestick and supports more audio and video standard than a ageing Nvidia Shield Pro.
Better than any Amazon product. It's fast, responsive, easy to use. Works well with my 8K receiver. No audio sync issue, picture quality is fantastic. The remote has a nice "heft to it". I've bought 3 of them now to replace all my firesticks and Cube. Best of all you can turn of play protect so no one can remotely shut down your applications like Amazon are doing atm. Supports all the latest audio and video standard unlike a Nvidia shield and is £70 cheaper. I'm very happy with them.

Good Firestick alternative
First up, I used to love Amazon Firesticks - I've bought about 5 over the years. But as Amazon has diverged from the Android ecosystem, and as each upgrade drops, more and more functionality disappears. So I've started looking for an alternative, and with the demise of the Google Chromecast TV puck, this one seems to be a good replacement. It's easy to use and set up as it uses the Google Home app. Streaming quality is great. The price on these varies wildly. At £30 it's good value, at £65 it isn't, but if you can get one at the low end, it's great value.

Avoid in the UK (Unless you know the apps you want are installable)
It's a nice device, the unit is good quality from a fit and finish point of view, and app performance is decent. The issue is that in the UK, many of the mainstay streaming services for on-demand TV are not available to install. No BBC iPlayer, ITV X, Channel 4, I only saw My5 available. Rather frustrating as this device runs the same Google TV Android 12+ OS as the Google Chromecast (with Google TV) streamer, even has the same CPU, GPU and RAM but for some reason the apps are just absent from the on-device app store and installing from play.google.com reveals that the apps "are not supported on this device".If you know the apps you want are installable (e.g. Netflix, Prime, AP TV+, Jellyfin, Plex) it seems decent but I purchased as a gift and if it doesn't have these UK centric services available then it's a non-starter.
