I see it's compatible with smarthings, but can i connect it directly to my samsung hub instead of the sonoff zbbridge?

Yes it is compatible with the SmartThings Hub. I have two connected successfully in this way.

Are the batteries removable or rechargeable at all?

The batteries are CR2450 lithium coin batteries. The sensors come with batteries and you have to remove a plastic tab before first use. When the battery runs out you can replace it.

Will this work with the Philips Hue bridge?

I don't know about that brand, I bought ZigBee because it was free to use and it proved very good and reliable.

will this pair directly to SmartThings Hub?

I successfully added two SNZB-02 sensors to my SmartThings Hub and receive regular temperature and humidity readings from both.
