Must have in every primary classroom
I wish I had this product years ago. I believe this math tool should be in every first, second, and third grade classrooms. The visual helps my students understand why and how to use regrouping to add or subtract.

It’s okay
I wanted to love this but I just don’t. I was hoping to use it more in centers but it just isn’t ideal especially with 4-5 kids in a group. I honestly haven’t even used it.

I use this for math class.
This is a handy manipulative for the class and makes learning just that bit more fun. I use it in my second grade classroom. I only bought one so it is used as a tutoring tool, extra practice, or center activity.

Works better in 2 parts
Two of my boys that I am homeschooling are working on first grade material. They are learning the ones house, tens house, etc. as well as carrying for addition and borrowing for subtraction. I thought this mat was a great idea to supplement it! Some is nice... they can get the idea of the houses with this. And they have a board to practice their carrying and borrowing... but it doesn't have a thousands place for the answer. However, they don't really work all that well together as you need a third part in the houses to combine them for the answers, otherwise when you carry it will just look wrong. It's fun to make what they are learning more into a game, but the results don't visually show the answer accurately as it is... so I would separate the two halves for different concepts.Things to improve this: A thousands house for the answer part. A third part in the house section to reflect the answer. Stronger magnets on the number parts... you can't double them up to help with space issues. And I'll also note that my dry erase doesn't come off it super easily... leaving gray marks when the kids are working with it, but I've been able to forcefully get it all off thus far.Good concept. Could be much better. Probably good for a kid that needs more tactical learning of these concepts, or a change in what they are doing to learn it. Easy can confuse though.
