Good value starter kit and Easy to use
If you're a novice like me this kit takes a lot of the shock-and-awe out of DPC injecting, which many 'professionals' will charge an arm and a leg for. Although it is quite hard to guess exactly how much goop you are injecting into each hole, it is otherwise easy to do and doesn't take long. Per tube it's quite cheap and the instruction sheet is easy to follow. Watch a few YouTube videos if you aren't sure.I don't know if the chemicals are eco-friendly but the tubes are BBA approved, whatever that means. It is an odourless, hydrophobic goop the consistency of runny sun-cream so you have to inject it quite slowly but you'll soon get the hang of it. Probably wise to use gloves although the stuff seems to wash off easy enough with soapy water. I injected my walls a few weeks ago and haven't noticed any ill effects. The professional injection 'gun' is certainly a solid piece of kit. The cartridge nozzle fits very snugly, unlike a cheap gun, although that makes it slightly fussy to load/unload until you get the hang of it. The free snip-off tool worked well for cutting the nozzle to fit the injector tube - but it didn't fit the wider outlet on the actual cartridge, so I ended up having to cut that off the old-fashioned way with a sharp knife. Pity because I can see the principle of the tool is a lot safer. You get a nozzle for each tube and a spare injector tube but it's easier just to swap the first nozzle & tube onto the next cartidge as you go along. If you've fitted tube-inside-nozzle as per instructions this is the best way, and the tube can be washed out with water and re-used later, if necessary. You get a pucker foot-long 12mm Austrian masonry drill bit which will be more than good enough for this job and many more. One slight problem - the bit was 'slotted' presumably to fit modern power drills. It didn't fit my ancient B&D 13mm 3-tooth chuck quite so well, but with a bit of fudging I got it to work ok.All in all it's a good kit. 8 tubes was more than enough for my small job even though I was over-injecting for many holes I'm sure, but they aren't too expensive and were supplied very promptly by the delightfully named Alliance Remedial Supplies (ARS) Ltd, of Gosport, Hants. I ordered my kit at noon and it was delivered at 10:30am the next day, standard delivery. All this for considerably less than £100? Who'd a thunk it? Bravo, chaps.*Update* 2years since I did this job, and no real problems that I can see. It seems to have worked effectively. Under certain conditions you may see a slight 'shadow' on internal walls, which shows the extent to which the dp is working (see pic, where I just injected it a couple of times in a damp corner), about 2' radius from the injection point. There may be some 'salt' or slight paint damage along that radius, but that is because of 'normal' damp in the air affecting the untreated wall. The treated area appears a slightly lighter colour, so you could use that as a guide if you wanted to extend the anti-damp treatment. One happy bunny.
