Works good
I got this to do the job, and it is working flawlessly for me. Shock strength is good; installation was easy because I have tools and watched YouTube videos. It fit my 2015 Ford F-150 perfectly; it's smooth when my tailgate drops down now, just like I want.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Great product. No instructions but still very simple. My 8yr old figured it out and had fun installing.

Worked well, until one day last week it got cold and I went to close the tailgate and the shock busted

No instructions in box, video isn't real clear as to position for bottom clamp.
I wish it came with instructions, tool provided doesn't fit exactly and becomes a knuckle breaker if you're not careful. All of that said, the item is of good quality and works great! would purchase again.

the instructions were not the best, but once you figure it out, this was definitely worth it, it was cheap in price but not in quality. Just annoyed about the instructions but got it installed in a breeze once I figured it out, and glad I went with the cheaper one as it works great!

Broken star wrench and no instructions.
The product came with all parts needed, however, the right angled star wrench that is need to remove the top main bolt was visibly cracked at the elbow and upon the first attempt to loosen the bolt it snapped in half. Using my own tools of the trade I grabbed a vise grips and was able to remove the bolt and then replace it. The other down fall was there were no instructions or pictures included. I ended up going back to the product in Amazon and looked at photos to determine placement of the parts. Once assembled it works great and as it should, slow open and yet easy to close.
