The results from using this were unbelievably awesome. The rendang it made is the equal of any we have had in any Indonesian restaurant, and it was super easy. The only gotcha is that the packet doesn’t tell you it takes 8 hours to cook. Having made it theee times now, I feel very confident in that number. I followed the recipe but did the long cook in a large cast iron pot (camping dutch oven) in my kitchen oven at 325F, and all three times it took 8 hours to reduce the liquid to the right level.Regardless, we’ll keep buying this spice paste because the results are something the entire family loves.

I tried it as instructed on the package and it was very tasty but I was concerned about all the extra calories and sugar from the coconut milk, so I tried it next in a slow cooker as it for a base to a stew, and then also to marinate steaks. All were delicious. As it comes as a paste, it can easily be applied on meat, fish or chicken.

Overall easy to make and tastes ok. Much spicier than previous brand I purchased
