Jackel Septic Tank Riser Cover (24 Inch Diameter - GREEN)

Very simple install. A couple of things I learned that may be useful.1. Don't ride your mower or tractor over septic lids. My existing cover was the plastic with embedded plywood as someone mentioned earlier. Once it was cracked it was only a matter of time.2. Clean all around the cover before removing in. I had a bunch of moss and grass about an inch or two around the existing cover. Cleaned it out around an inch from the cover.3. The provided screws are square heads. That was the same as my existing cover screws.4. I was very careful to not let pieces of the broken cover (or the dirt/grass/moss) to fall back into the tank.5. Once the cover is off, I cleaned around the top of the tank opening. This should give you a clean surface to seat the new cover.6. These are self drilling screws so don't go nuts trying to line up the existing holes. Just pop the cover on and seat the new screws.7. Finally, I suspect the vast majority of septic covers sold on Amazon are the same size and fit most septic tank. Don't go nuts on trying to find the right size.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Much less expensive than ‎Aero-Stream, but it fit their system perfectly. I think the lid is made at the same place. My wife cut the ‎Aero-Stream lid with the lawn mower, and I bought this unit to replace it. Fit was exact.

The lids of my existing septic tank cracked due to age and needed to be replaced. I have 24" risers with the ID / OD being plus or minus about 1/4 to 1/2". These lids fit. The lid is about 26 3/4" across the top and they have a 1.5" rim on the inside to fit the opening of the riser. This is nice as there is some variability in the riser diameter. The rim also comes with a rubber gasket and four stainless screws to screw into the riser shoulder. These were a perfect replacement for me and the color is nice, like a dark green that disappears in the yard. Highly recommended and much better price than buying from the septic tank company or local big box. The lid looks to be very high quality very thick molded plastic with a cross hatch design on the underside that makes for a very stiff and strong lid.

My old covers have each been cracking at the screw holes. So I got two of these. First they are slightly larger so I had to line it up. Just be aware it is not 1 for 1 with your original install. Second the screw holes are different than my old so I had to pilot new holes, but the provided screws do that for you.These are probably 10x stronger than the original. On the old ones If I stood on them they would bend a little. I was always worried they would break (which they seem to have). These have zero give. They seal very well and I feel very comfortable walking on them and am now less worried about my kids being around.I give them four stars due to the larger size and the fact that they barely fit the fins of my tank, but also because I am not sure how they will hold up long term. Right now they seem good.

Looks better than the cover I am replacing and appears much sturdier. Expect to last quite a few years.
