Great present!
I bought my Yedi a few years back and love mine. So I decided to get one for my son & his wife. I’m sure they will love theirs too.

A little cautious and confused at first, but I'm learning - and I love my Yedi!
This is an update of my review from a month ago. I still love my new Yedi and use it almost every day. I have hard boiled eggs in it; made rice pudding, chili con carne with dried beans; chicken rice soup; beef barley soup; strawbery jam (really a compote); hard boiled eggs and so many other things that I am going to have to write them down! The only thing I don't like is that not only the sealing ring but also the lid seem to smell like beef, beef barley soup being the first thing I made in it. I purchased some additional rings and use one of them for sweet things (strawberry compote and rice pudding), but the cover still smells like beef. I have now soaked the ring in vinegar, which seems to help. Airing it out doesn't seem to do a thing.I now wash the lid with Dawn and even rinse it under running water. My biggest problem with the Yedi is that the instructions are way too minimal. I have used the Instant Pot online information, which is very helpfu. However, I have had to learn by doing how to remove the various parts from the top. Nowhere in the user's guide or the video are there any instructions for that. I still love the Yedi, but if I could, I'd rate it 4.5 stars because of the lack of Yedi-specific instructions and guides. What kind of irks me in general, and this is not Yedi's "fault," is that almost all the cookbooks and even internet recipes have "Instant Pot" in them, which at first made me wonder if everything is the same with the Yedi. I have discovered that the answer is mostly yes, although there are differences in the programs. For example, there is no yogurt program in the Yedi. On the other hand, I find that I use the programs rarely; I generally use "Manual" except for rice, beans, and so on. I think I could use the programs more, but there is no indication online or in the Users Manual as to how long the programs are. I think that the programs vary in length depending on the weight and temperature of the ingredients, but I'm not sure.I love the "Saute" setting and use it a lot.I have adapted many of my favorite recipes for the Yedi, which is easy to do. For example, I modified Julia Child's recipe for French Onion Soup and an old recipe I have for boeuf bourguignon. Both turned out very well. And I of course had to cook my long grain brown rice in my Yedi. Done perfectly, although I believe that I used the "Manual" setting as my online recipe recommended. There has been a definite learning curve for me with my Yedi. I am over 70 and used to have a stovetop pressure cooker. Whenever I used it, I felt as if I were taking my life in my hands. The Yedi causes me no concerns whatsoever!I have gotten to the point now that I have sold my slow cooker and my rice cooker!I did buy a 9" lid on amazon.com. It is not an "Instant Pot" lid and it works perfectly. A good price at $9.95.I can't seem to edit what I wrote, but I want to say that the smell from the sealing ring is a given with these programmable pressure cooker/slow cookers. I have not read about the smell staying with the lid from other reviewers. I am wondering if a touch of vinegar might help get rid of the smell. I shall investigate online.Sorry to have such a long review, but I hope this helps anyone who is approaching their Yedi with both curiosity and trepidation. I say - GO FOR IT! YOU'LL LOVE IT!

One year later and…
So I was one of those people who thought an instant pot was a waste of time but a friend turned me on to her Yedi. Honestly, I didn’t even know what one was but she explained it and seeing the quick easy meals she did I thought why not. Having a family of 5 you become desperate to make cooking and cleaning up as quick and easy as possible without sacrificing flavor.I have now had this over a year and and can honestly say I use it almost every day for dinner, a side dish, sometimes a lunch or snack (cheesy potatoes)… the options are literally endless. I’ve made meat loaf, spaghetti, pizza, cakes, makes a killer pot roast, pork chops and gravy, Salisbury steak,… I can go on and on! I cannot attest to the other options besides the slow cooker bc I haven’t used them but I can imagine they’re all great to. It cuts cooking time in half or more! I can have a delicious, flavorful, tender fall apart pot roast w/veggies done in a little over an hour!! (Try adding a couple packets of brown gravy to make an amazing flavor packed gravy) it’s been an amazing investment and will definitely be repurchasing if anything happens to this in the future! Clean up is so easy and the insert and lid can be put in the dish washer as well. It comes with 2 rings that seal the instant pot to create the pressure inside the pot and my kids some how got ours and tore it up (stretched it out)😩 so I ordered one 2days ago and it’s already shipped out and this and other parts are very reasonably priced on their website.I haven’t found a flaw yet that I don’t like about it, it’s definitely made my busy life a little easier and has saved me several times from everyone eating junk bc Im so exhausted I don’t want to cook. Knowing it’s there I’ve been able to throw something together quick, turn the knob so it’s sealed and press a few buttons and walk away til it beeps - and everyone still get a healthier meal. It’s also got a great safety feature that keeps it from opening if you haven’t released the inside steam/pressure - easy to forget when it’s new and you’re a busy mom/dad who’s brain only half works lol!!I was not paid or compensated in any way for this review, I sincerely love my Yedi pot and having to order the new part a couple days ago made me realize I hadn’t reviewed it yet and that I love how easy it was to order the new part needed and others. I have had no issues mechanically with my Yedi and hope to have many more years with it! ❤️🍲
