Easiest performance upgrade for 2nd gen Cummins
Bolts directly into air intake replacing the restrictive stock box. Instantly more alive. Turbo is happy.

Pretty straightforward. Less expensive than NAPA's 6637, but basically the same filter.
I only have the "started and runs" test done, but there are so many factors that go into power and fuel efficiency that I wouldn't comment on those anyway. Sounds roughly the same.Be aware of your installation situation. I have an early '99 Ford 7.3 Powerstroke, and this requires a 45-degree elbow with a little length to it in order to replace the stock air filter housing. This is not a direct fit, and people will say "you just need a little piece of 4" pipe," but that's not the case for the old body style (OBS) or early-99 7.3.

Works great in my 2001 F250 7.3
This filter works great in my 2001 F250 7.3. It is definitely louder than the original, which I really like. When I let off the gas with the turbo spooled I can now very clearly hear the blow off valve. It sounds great. The flow and filtration of these filters is also excellent. This is well documented on forums if you want to check into this. The install was pretty simple. Basically remove the stock air box and filter, and put this in. You will need an extension tube, and new clamp. I used the following items:Spectre Performance 9709 4" Straight Aluminum Intake TubeHPS (SSTC-108-116) 108mm - 116mm Stainless Steel T-Bolt Clamp for 4" HoseThese two pieces made the install very easy.

Toasting a turbo is not an option, this is the brand I trust.
I always used Donaldson filters in my semi. I was on a road trip towing hauling heavy with my F250, I knew I had to replace my filter immediately, shipped this to my next stop. After ordering, I acquired one immediately at twice the price. Heavy haul and high performance my fuel mileage and engine are worth a whole lot more than a dirty air filter. If you ever wish to test the ability of one brand or style over another, set them on a scale. While you should have blown out your filter sooner, this filter can handle at least 5#'s of dirt. Melting a turbo is not an option.

perfect for my 7.3
I was take out S&B $299.00.because air suck warning light on when full throat on hill .I build a air box by myself, use this Donaldson B085011 Filter two years, walmart BBQ thermo set up 4 point one at front air one at side air one at turbo high side and one at engine top. the result is : running at 7 percent long hill 55mile /hour, side and front air 85F equal out air temp, turbo achieve 260F, engine top 187F, the air box very important with BO85011.

A must for your 5.9 Cummins
Let your work horse breath! I have it on my 01 2500 ram with 5.9 Cummins and it is direct fit. Remove stock filter box and this baby just directly goes in to stock air intake. 5.9 Cummins loves two things lots of air and lots of fuel, and new transmission if you want to count third.
