Great chair for 6'3"+
I bought because of the name brand, in hopes the quality would be better than other offerings. The chair is as described made of bonded leather. If you've ever owned a bonded leather belt vs a real solid leather belt, you know that eventually the veneer cracks usually near the most used prong hole first. But a real solid leather chair would have been much, much more expensive and this has a nice touch and feel. My real leather office chair has lasted 25 years, but the cylinder finally gave out. I didn't realize it at the time I ordered, but I can probably just replace the cylinder and keep using the old one, but nevertheless I'm very satisfied with the purchase. The leather is single stitched, in a lighter threat to show some contrast. I do appreciate the padded armrests, which is a comfortable touch - although I am near certain those will be the first to tear up, from hitting the underside of desks, and from elbow rubs, much like how a bonded leather belt I expect it to crack first, and then delaminate. But given the price, its satisfactory for now -- a good feature is it appears the armrests can be removed with three screws from the bottom. So if that happens, I can replace the pads with something simple, or have them recovered by an upholsterer, or just repair the leather from the backside, to stop it from cracking, so its held together. Now for the best part -- the controls on this chair are really nice. There are three adjustments1. up/down2. lock tilt at any position; my favorite feature.. this locks the tilt to the amount the chair leans back stay set3. tilt tension adjustment; this dial/knob is used in setting force to lean back when the tilt is not locked.I may be using the wrong chair industry terminology, buts that's how I'd best use layman's terms to describe it.The arms seem to be a dense composite wood, with a heavy and hard coating, so that is going to more durable than even a hardwood, and will prevent chips and dings. The spokes out to each caster wheel have a metal core, and the look of the wood over the metal is very nice. The only small thing about this chair, is because it is bonded leather, and it is so well cushioned and VERY comfortable, the combination of those two choices make the chair much warmer sitting than my real leather chair that has a similiar shape and style. That is just the trade off you get with the cost and features -- but I strongly recommend this chair. I've looked around and sat in these types of chairs for years at big box stores but never liked them enough to felt the need to replace my old one, but I'm glad I took a leap of faith and ordered this serta one sight unseen. It won't be dropped off at Kohl's for return.

Helpful hints on putting the Serta chair together plus we love the chair...
Great chair but to put it together there is some very important things not in the instuctions like = when you are puting the Serta chair together - lay the back rest down flat on some of the card board pieces that came in the shipping package and then push down the set to line up in the back rest bracket to line up the four mounting holes was the only way to connect the back rest to the set. also take your time with the two arm rails = the some of the mounting arm bolt will cross tread if your not carefull - we putt a little white lithum grease on those bolts and started the bolts in a trial run with out the arm rails first and latter still taking our time finding which bolt started best one side was lining up weird but don't force nothing and you'll be fine = and truth, we love the chair and if we need another Serta chair down the line we would buy another because we love the chair...

YMMV
Alright... this chair "claims" to be for big and tall men and that it supports up to 350 lbs. Well, maybe that's so for almost every other of their big and tall products, but not for the one they sold me. And I'm so friggin' mad as I type this, I can barely see straight...I'm a big guy and tip the scales at about 300-305, so this ain't no borderline issue (I don't weigh 348 and expect a chair that supports up to 350 to never fail)... so I'm not real close to the chair's limit, so I expect the #@$$%# to work!! I have a high desk and always keep my chairs extended fully, and since I paid extra for the benefit of having a chair that can support me, I expect the #@$$@#@ to work, too!! There's not much more more irritating than sitting in front of the computer reading or concentrating on something only to have the piston of the chair you're sitting in start to give way and jerkily lower itself.I accepted that the piston shipped with my chair could've been bad, as since I'm a business owner myself I know things can go wrong, so I contacted the company and about a week later someone contact me and said "Don't worry! It's under warranty!", so they asked for details of the chair (serial numbers, etc.), and then after about another week I got an email saying they'll ship a new piston out to me... and two weeks after that (super, super slow shipping) I finally got the new piston in my hand (and by the way - if you've never taken a chair apart to replace it's piston, you may want to look into the best way to approach it on Youtube, etc., as those things were NOT meant to be taken apart once assembled). So I pull the chair apart, replace its piston, and then I'm back to enjoying my life again... for about 6 hours. The piston they sent me doesn't work either and I'm not a happy camper at all (and no, I don't think there's 400-pound fairies sneaking in my office at night and demolishing my chair's piston, but I could be mistaken). At this point I'm done... I can't (and won't) wait upwards of a month to get my chair fixed.I can't tell you to NOT buy this brand, as that would just be rude of me... I'm only one person, but I can tell you I WILL NEVER BUY THIS BRAND OF CHAIR AGAIN... if fact, as soon as this review is done I'm searching for another brand. I'll let you know if they disappoint me, too.
