Fun had by many!
I bought this kit to learn how to make cranes for my visiting adult daughter’s upcoming milestone celebration at our family cottages. We’d postponed our vacation for a year, due to Covid. The box and papers were beautiful, and the book was comprehensive and ordered by level of difficulty. The cranes were midway in difficulty. My thinking had been, ok, I want to make 100 cranes for her party. But in 2 weeks I’d managed to make 5. And the 5th was the worst. I used to be good at this stuff. The book in the kit was good, but it takes a while to understand the nomenclature, and I kept forgetting. I’d taken the kit down to make more on site. Her friend saw my struggles and volunteered to help. I gave her the kit to take back to their cottage. Imagine my delight when my daughter returned with an origami desk she’d made for ME. They’d had so much fun with the kit that she took it back to Boulder with her! Everything in this kit was a hit.

Fool proof!
This product not only includes a very well thought-out series of drawings to help you on your way, but it also tells the marvelous story of origami and paper, as well as the symbolism of the different figures. A link is included that leads you to videos showing how to fold the paper, in case you have trouble getting something quite right. The videos are excellent.

Nice kit.
It's a nice kit, and the book is small but nicely printed. I wasn't crazy about the papers, but they're not bad. It's not the strongest origami paper I've seen. I have a friend who's more into it, and her paper is better. But, for a starter kit, this is nice, though I did not get the DVD. It came with a web address to download the videos, though one or two did not play correctly for me. For most people, this is probably not that key, but the videos are good as you can start and stop them at different points to see what you are doing better. For a gift this is great! It is an excellent starter kit, and the box is very nice looking and safely stores your paper.

Very nice book for beginners
The book contains instructions quite easy to understand and follow. The high quality, double-sided paper is beautiful and a great choice for these projects. How special would some of these design be, such as the kimono, samurai helmet, and the "Realistic Butterfly," pasted on card stock and sent to family and friends? I got the idea from watching a program featuring artists and crafters around the country using their talents and skills in creating lovely projects. One of them made his own cards using the Yuzu Washi and Chiyogami paper designs. They were so beautiful and creative!Tuttle Publishing (the publisher of this kit) offers elegant origami paper, high quality, double-sided, Washi and Chiyogami designs (6" square) at $12.99 for 500 sheets each. They offer these in the 4" square as well. They also offer a host of other paper designs and sizes. Hard to beat!

Maybe not entry level beginners, but perhaps for aspiring intermediate-level beginners.
This set comes with a book with explanations and tutorials, a DVD, and a handful of some fairly good quality 6-inch square origami papers with one pattern side and one solid color side. The size of the box belies the content: it is mostly dead-space, supposedly to protect the origami papers better during transit. The origami models offered in the book and DVD vary in skill level from the moderate beginner to the aspiring intermediate-level origamist at best. I do not recommend this for younger people folding their first model.
