Most unique gel pens I've tried!
I LOVE Sakura's gelly pens. I've been using them since the 'fad' of dark paper got started. By the way, where did all that dark paper go? I wish I'd bought up all the black notebook paper I could get my hands on! Ahem, back to the subject. These Moonlight gelly pens by Sakura are very freeflowing, have a medium point, and as advertised on the package 'act like paint pens on most surfaces'. Five of the ten colors are 'regular' pens, with intense, vivid ink in different shades including a wonderful blue and a teal green that's very hard to find. The other five colors are what I'd call 'neon' but they aren't described that way. The package lists these five colors as 'glow under black light'. I haven't got access to blacklight type lights, so I can't comment on how the pens perform when exposed to it. However, these 'neon' shades are just as vivid and intense as the others, and offer a nice, lighter color contrast to the first five pens. I have used these to detail some celtic-type designs on the title page of a book I own, and have used them in various coloring-type books, as well as writing with them. Unless you are scrapbooking, it would be a waste to just write with this set of pens. They work so wonderfully as 'paint pens' I'm saving them for exactly that. The flow is excellent, easy control, quick drying (don't smudge for at least 30 seconds to be safe-when all 'wet' looking areas are gone, the ink is dry, waterproof, etc.) The ink in these pens creates a slightly 'raised' feel (very subtle, though) when the ink is dry-on paper. I haven't tried them on other surfaces, though several are listed on the package as suggestions. I have a feeling I'll be ordering these again in the near future. I love the metallic, sparkle and other effects. I'm on the lookout for some 'swirl' type 'milky' gel pens (as hard to find as black paper!), but these moonlight pens are an excellent addition to my pen collection! I've ordered from this seller several times in the last 2 years and have been impressed with the professionalism, speed of delivery, quality of product and packaging every time! Go ahead and try these pens, you won't be disappointed.

Love these pens!
These pens work amazing and last so long! I use them when I do rock patining because the colors are so bright and fun! They write really smooth and dry quickly so you don't have to worry about smearing.

Compliments for days!!
I get so much compliments on these pens. People love their appearance and how smooth they write! I've been asked where I got them and shared the brand and that I got them here. They stay smooth and never get where the ink gets stuck. If the ink doesn't come out right away, which is usually always does, a little movement from the tip gets it going easily. These are my FAVORITE pens!!

Very happy with this! Visible on black and white paper. Be aware ink tends to smudge.
These are the best pens I have been able to find that write visibly on black paper. I have tried to find other pens (both Gelly Roll brand and other brands) for writing on black paper, and this pen set is the option I will buy again when my current set runs out of ink.My favorite characteristic of these pens is that the ink is easily visible on BOTH black and white paper. (The necessary exception is that yellow is not easily visible on white paper. Yellow is great for black paper still.) The pens write very smoothly, and the ink colors are both vibrant and unique to one another.A negative aspect of these pens is that the ink does not dry immediately, the drying times are often inconsistent, and this makes smudging a problem. As these are paint pens, I expected a longer drying time that ballpoint pens, for example. However, the ink in these pens does not come out uniformly, so drying time can vary significantly. Additionally, these pens leave occasional ink puddles, for lack of a better word, on my papers. Although these "puddles" are small, they are the primary source of smudging and they sometimes make what what supposed to be a precise line much less precise. For reference, I am right-handed, I use these pens to take lecture notes, and I am not familiar with art techniques that might allow a person to avoid smudging/ink puddles. I would caution left-handed people especially to be aware of the slow and often irregular ink drying time prior to purchasing this product.Overall, I am very happy with this product, and I would definitely buy it again. All though the product is not absolutely perfect for me, I do not feel that any problems discussed above occur constantly or substantially impact my ability to use these pens effectively. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best option available for pens that write on black paper.

Ol' Reliable!
I've been using these pens for years, and may I say, they're a godsend for me. They fill in spaces beautifully, are nice and solid and have never given me any issues. They especially stand out on toned or black paper, which is something I've been illustrating on more lately versus when I first bought these.A few years down the road, they're still not dried out and were a very good investment for my side illustrations when I'm not working! A must-buy for any traditional artist, and a must-try for any beginner to the craft :)
