built tough
so i looked at the $120 and $150 baskets. Reviews weren't good on the first one, the second one covered the complete rear and would have made it hard to get to the battery should you need and i need to quite often as someone's always leaving the lights on or key turned on. It also didn't have the drop down tail gate which i wanted as i haul bee boxes, buckets, etc plus dogs. Let me say this thing is very well made. No sharp edges, probably took 30 minutes to install. You don't even need instructions. There's only a little over a dozen bolts to put it together. If u need instructions for this, you probably aren't smart enough to own a 4 wheeler to begin with. Was well packed, missing nothing as far as hardware, box was a little worse for wear, but that's the shippers fault. Very nice looking once installed. Fit my Honda Foreman like a glove. Was well worth the $180. I would recommend this to anyone. May not fit all brands but fits the honda foreman fine. You get what you pay for and this was definately worth what i paid

Easy to put together
Bought for CF Moto Cforce 600. The tubing is sturdy. Not sure how long the mesh will last because welds are few and far between . It is lighter than drop basket I bought 22 years ago. I would recommend when assembling, not to tighten screws until its fully assembled. I drilled some holes in my composite rack and long ubolts provided were too short so I’ll have to go to hardware store to purchase longer ones.. It came with short and long ubolts.Kudos to Amazon for double box packaging. It arrived with no shipping damage.

Well made, Useful and Sturdy.
Let me start by saying....... I did not have all the problems that so many talked about. The item arrived and it was fine. The directions are simple and to the point. Not rocket science to put six parts together. The screw bolts fit perfectly and the basket fit like a glove. I did not have to man handle it or anything. A second set of hands to help hold the sides up while you get it started is a real help! If you think you are going to travel into the bush with it........then yeah, the back little wires may get tangled in the bush..... I personally have had no problems with that at all. The tail gate folds down and is very handy to use when you need some platform to use to change your chain saw blades or something like that. Yes the paint is a little light. It is not powder coated like bumpers. So Repaint it any color you want. If you want to match your ATV! Its gonna get beat up. It's a basket! All in all, I love the darn thing. Works great. Built descent! Does what it's supposed to do, and it didn't break the budget. ..........Update! Went to Lowe's and purchased zip ties in the electrical dept. The big black ones. They have a 175 lb. break strength. Used 6 ties on the rack. Works Great insted of the U bolts! Takes less time to set up and tear down when you want to go riding and don't need the rack on back. Use more if you feel the need, but the 6 worked great for me.

Kolpin Collapsible Rear Drop Rack
Purchased the Kolpin rear drop rack to haul supplies in a remote area. The rack is very strong and somewhat heavy (~50lbs). It fits the rack on my Honda Recon very well. However, the U bolts that came with it were too small. So, I purchased 4 wider and longer U bolts and attached bars to bars (outer bars on each side). Very sturdy. If carrying heavy loads make sure to counter balance the front rack (I have not had any problems with steering). I am glad I purchased this well-built rack rather than the less expensive brands.

I expected more from Kolpin, but this will suffice...
The rack, itself, is a nice piece. The powder coating on it is, however, cheap; it chips easily, which will ultimately mean rust in the long run. At this price point, that's to be expected...The assembly process is fine if you're handy and/or a DIY type, but the instructions are lacking for a novice. What isn't for a novice, in my opinion, is the mounting mechanism. Don't expect to assemble and bolt this on in 20 minutes if you care about how it looks, whether people can get caught on the mounting hardware, etc.Ultimately the mounting hardware simply didn't provide support in the correct places for use on my 2011 King Quad 400 ASI, so I discarded the U-bolts that came with it, bought my own, and custom-fitted each one such that the mounts all rely on the rack's main tubing being mated to my King Quad's rear rack main tubing. It's just sturdier that way. I also took the time to mount the U bolts with the bottom of the U face-up, so that my rear rack can still be used for soft-sided things without worry of bolt heads tearing them.Tip:Get some 3/4" foam or rubber (I prefer foam) pipe insulation and fit it to your ATV's rear rack tubing in key places prior to mounting this rack. Doing so will reduce/eliminate metal-on-metal contact between this rack and your ATV's rear rack, preserving the finish of both, cutting down rust potential, and avoiding squeaks/clatter.

Good product.
The tubular design is good, smooth lines. 1rst the negatives. the rear portion did not line up exactly but with use of a bar clamp was able to get the last bolt in place for assembly. 2ndly, the gate when in the open position is not designed ( my opinion ) to hold more than 10-20 lbs. 3rd the mounting hardware leads much to be desired. I used black electrical zip ties to anchor the basket to my Bayou 300 which has the metal tubular racks. I found this basket to be very nice and fits my ATV perfectly. The basket holds a lot of items. Also is quiet, I couldn't hear any metal to metal rattling above the engine. Assembling & mounting took approximately 2 1/2 hrs in my case. All my friends who have seen it decided they need one too. I'm much satisfied, and am glad I chose this particular basket. For the design, construction, & price, I recommend this product without reservation. Also this vendor had a quick delivery of less than 2 wks.
