Had my bike locked to my truck's bike rack which was parked at a hotel for several nights. This lock stopped an attempted theft of the bike as can be seen in the pics. The thief was able to make a clean cut through one of the links, but it must have taken too long to stick around to make another cut. They also tried to drill through the keyhole but that ended with a broken drill bit. Thanks to this AKM lock, I still have my bike.Follow-Up Edit: I had to have a locksmith remove the u-lock since it was so badly damaged. He had it off in about 10 minutes - sparks were flying everywhere and it got so hot he had to cool it off several times with a cup of water. The mistake I made is I backed the truck up to a wooded area with the bike locked to the bike mount in the back of the hotel parking lot, trying my best to hide it. The problem is in so doing, I gave the thief cover while his cutting tool undoubtedly produced sparks too. The locksmith said it's actually better to have it out in the open - sparks like that will attract a whole lot of attention.

We've had this chain for a year and a half. It is attractive, holding up well, the cover over the chain is preventing damage to the bike, very pleased with that. I waited to leave a review so I could report on how it is wearing. It's wearing great, the included small U Lock is still functioning and not stuck, which is always good. The bike is stored in a covered but outdoor parking garage, so somewhat exposed to elements but not direct rain, just Florida humidity.We use the chain in 2 ways: out and about in a busy, downtown urban area that is notorious for bike theft. Had a bike stolen while we were at lunch here (only had a cable lock, never ever do that). No one will have time in broad daylight to cut through this chain in this urban environment, it is heavy heavy and will scare off any potential thief. You only need to be one of the more protected bikes downtown, as the thieves go for unlocked or cable locked bikes. The other use for us is locked up inside our gated condo garage. Twice our neighbors have had bikes stolen inside the garage, but not ours. Again, I think being one of the more secure set-ups compared to what else is available is making the difference for us. Could someone saw through the chain given enough time? Certainly, but it would take some time and tools.What we like is that our big U Locks, while they are lighter and really quick to pop on and off, super easy to use--- there are times that we don't have a good spot to lock them too, and they won't fit around a light pole or some other unique place. Also at home, the place we lock them too (a bolt in the cement wall), a U Lock wouldn't reach-- the chain gives you so many more options of how to lock even 2 bikes. But it is HEAVY, so heavy to work with, heavy to ride with, cumbersome to unlock it, wrap it around somewhere to travel with, finagle around to get it relocked. So if you don't have a specific reason to need the chain, a big enough U Lock is super easy. They say U Locks can be pried open, and cut open easier, so for overnight security, that is another reason we have both a chain and a U Lock.

THE CHAIN CAN BE CUT EASILY, MY MOTORCYCLE WAS STOLEN RIGHT FROM MY DRIVEWAY, NOT ONLY DID IT NOT DETER THEM STEALING THE BIKE BUT THEY LEFT THE CUT LINKS TO SHOW ME THAT THEY CUT THE CHAIN. I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE TO LOCK THEIR MOTORCYCLE WITH.

This bike chain does what it says, with high quality steel and a recessed lock to resist drilling. But it is heavy, over 6 pounds, too heavy for me to comfortably carry on my bike rides. I recommend it as a good home bike lock, but something else is needed for securing the bike while out and about.

I had a cable lock for my ebike,saw reviews about anybody with a decent set of sidecutters could steal Bike inside a min.bought this heavy duty chain lock ,I don't give it a second thought now.excellent lock.

Love this chain! Wish it was a foot longer but I can deal with it.Sometimes the key doesn’t unlock the lock so I have to fiddle with it for a minute to get it open. Does it’s job and feels secure.

I returned this, but only because it lived up to its explanation of being heavy duty more than I expected. It was so heavy there is no way you can take this with you in a bike basket. Great if you need something really sturdy.

Nice welds on the chain. Quality medium/heavy duty sleeve over the chain that looks and feels like a great deterant and resistant piece of security for even a well equipped bike thief, the paddle lock however is well idk. Now I admittedly didn't read the sites specs for the lock its a bit smaller than I thought it'd be Its just when u open up the lock it looks like alot of plastic and a couple of thin metal sleeves around the initial bolt lock inside also that part of the lock is extremely light so that's when it just felt off to me. So the chain great love it I say 4.5 stars🌟 for the chain and only 3 stars 🌟 for the lock because of all the plastic around the lock tho a nice real heavy duty almost military looking grade plastic
