2009 F150. Works good
Easy to install. Works great. But the nutsert supplied to attach shock to tailgate isn’t real good. It’s smaller than to hole in the relegate. So it has worn over time with use.

Why didn’t I do this with my previous trucks? Surely this has been around since vans have had rear lift gates! This is excellent. But you must follow the installation instructions precisely. I almost stripped out the nutzert because I did not compress it fully and when I put the ball nut on, I stripped the first couple of threads. Fortunately, it worked! I will always have one of these on my truck!

Worked great for 2 weeks
Only worked for about 2 weeks. Now tailgate doesn't go down on its own. I have to force it down

Cheap thrills every time I pull the latch
After enduring 17 years of 'BANG!!' from my old truck, this is so cool. Not normally one to complain about banging, I'm getting older and seem to enjoy it a lot less. I'm told this is normal but now there's no banging at all, never. This is the second strut from Amazon. 1st was a 'warehouse DEAL', which was no deal at all. When is Amazon going to figure out that sending out auto parts that have been installed is way different than a torn bag on your package of underwear? Especially when there are critical installation pieces missing. And don't get me started on that $100+ control module that's obviously been installed and removed... Spent an extra $3 for this one and I was so happy to enjoy a trouble-free installation and 'as described' function. Got the snazzy blue version so that others will notice my new favorite gadget and not think I've lost it when they see me open and close my tailgate a dozen times without getting anything out or putting anything in. It's that satisfying, really! The tailgate closes just as easily as it did before but the opening is pure ecstasy. Best of all, you won't go blind and can do this multiple times every day. Strongly recommended!
