10 stars- I used these on my 22 year old and now on my 4 year old
As a young mother 20 years ago- I bought this for my older son. I loved it because it kept him for hours which gave me time to do many things. (I bought every CD they had back in the day) My younger son is a techy electronic freak, but he has too much control with apps or even learning from you tube (covid). My sister said if it worked for the older it will work for the younger and to my surprise HE LOVES IT. It did take me a while to get it installed as it didn't do it automatically. You can def tell that it has some age to it- however the learning capability remains the same. 2 hours later and he was more comfortable in recognizing his letters. I was ready to pay for a tutor, but I think I found the answer. I will be ordering a lot more of these

A classic for good reason... but you'll need an older OS
This is the classic Reader Rabbit... and I have not found a new product of similar value. We used RR with our first three children, and now that our "bonus baby" is four, we ordered a new copy. He enjoys it and will spend 30 minutes or more on the learning games. As others have noted, this software is vintage. It won't run on Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating systems; we dug out an older laptop to use it.

didnt work and WAS RESTOCKED!!
I downloaded the game to my computer, and still had to use the disc. No big deal really, but then it started freezing my whole computer and it was a mess! I returned it for a refund, but then they charged me a RESTOCKING FEE for something that DID NOT WORK!!!! the couple times that we used it, the games and activities seemed fun and educational, but it just didnt work--defective CD's or program I am not sure, but please be aware that amazon did charge me a restocking fee for this item

Wonderful Learning Tool
Purchased this for my nephews - 3 and 4 years old. There are SO many great activities that they could (and have!) spend an entire day just "playing their computer games." My brother (a single dad) gets a break every time he puts this "game" into the computer for the boys. For most activities, they work together and learn together. It's been great fun to see them learning, see their skills improve, and hear the increase in their vocabularies!! We were a bit concerned about the "leftie" using the mouse for the first time. BUT - he had it down in under 5 minutes! It was great!

a little outdated, but son loves it
The software is a little glitchy, and looks a little outdated, but My 3.5 year old son loved it.. so that's all that really matters so 4 stars. It has some good educational value to it, but in the end it's just some fun computer games, don't expect it to teach your child to read :) I use things like this for "quite time" when my 18month daughter is taking her nap. My son plays some education games quietly while I try to get some work done. Younger children would benefit from having an adult help them along the way to get more out of the software. You do need to have the disk in the computer to run it.

daughter loved it
It installed fine on the WinXP machine (Core2 Duo, 2GB RAM) that I gave my four year old. She loved the games and was really learning from them but after a few months the software started to glitch, mostly audio problems at first. I have been unable to correct it by repairing or reinstalling. She only interacts with it in fullscreen mode so there is no chance that she affected settings and everything about the computer and other software is trouble-free so I must think this software is buggy. It certainly is old. If you try it I hope you have better luck.

Outdated
This product is a bit outdated, but still kind of works on Windows 7. My 3-year-old son is having fun with it, but doesn't quite understand how to accomplish each game yet (still learning the reading part). The graphics and usability are a flaky. The software was designed to run on Windows 95 - XP or Mac OS 8.6 - 9.2. It has a copyright of 2002 and Amazon has carried it since 2001. It hasn't been updated for Windows Vista or Windows 7. It does seem to run correctly under Windows 7, but has a few graphical issues. The colors don't render correctly and revert to using a 256-color palate, with the occasional wrong color (i.e. black instead of tan, etc.). When it runs, it switches to its own graphics mode and goes full-screen (which is nice to keep children from accidentally clicking outside of the program). One of the things I really didn't like is that it requires the CD to be inserted in the drive all the time in order to run. CD's and little kids don't mix very well. Fortunately, I figured out how to get it to run without the CD (read below). What I do like about the software is that it has an entertaining story line (and cartoon) that grabs the attention of little children, and it's very educational. It is very well structured, despite being outdated. My 3-year-old son was able to quickly figure out how to navigate the menus and pop in and out of activities. The software seems to be entirely mouse-driven, but they do make it somewhat easy with a huge pointer (although the clickable regions should be a bit bigger). This includes two CD's: "Reader Rabbit Learn to Read with Phonics" and "Reader Rabbit Dreamship Tales"How to get it to run without the CD in the Drive:1. Create a folder on the hard drive to contain the entire contents of each CD (e.g. "C:\CD Images\Reader Rabbit Learn to Read" and "C:\CD Images\Reader Rabbit Dreamship")2. Copy the contents of each CD into its respective folder on the hard drive3. Run "Play.exe" from the copies of the CD's on the hard drive to install the programsThe installation tells the program where the installation was run from (i.e. the location of the CD). Since the steps above have it run from a folder on the hard drive, the program thinks that's where the CD's are located and runs properly.SUMMARYThis is a nice software set for the low price. I wish it was updated for newer operating systems. If you're running Windows Vista, Windows 7, or one of the newer Mac OS', you might want to consider other apps first.

Computer software
This didn’t quite meet my expectations, have to have the correct programs to work this. It’s an older version.
