Love it
It’s small , simple and easy to use . Easy to change filters . I just hang it on my hundred gallon pond so it doesn’t take up space at the bottom. My pond has been crystal clear.

A Great little pump!
These are great little pumps! The first FR500 I had lasted for about 10 years.

Works Well, Very Satisfied
I purchased this kit as a replacement for a pump and fountain that had been in operation for many years and finally failed. I'm very pleased with this pump and accessories. I have it placed in a small, fairly deep "pond" that is actually a repurposed pit that was originally used for smoking meat and is about 2' x 3' x 2' deep (approximately). The feature that I most like about the kit is the outlet valve that attaches to the pump. The valve body contains both a bypass valve (for diverting part of the flow) and a throttle valve. Between the two it is possible to precisely regulate the flow to the desired level. I'm also impressed with the filter. The water in this little pond has never looked clearer, and the filter can handle considerable loading before there is much restriction to the flow. It is much more effective than the filter on my previous pump.

Be careful of the prefilter- mine broke off.
I bought this pump for a client's project.I specifically bought this pump for the pre filter.I didn't care for all the other parts. The pump has worked well so far, which I'm grateful for! However, the prefilter broke right off.Fortunately, I had also bought the 680 GPH pump too, in case the 500GPH wasn't enough lift.So I used the pre filter from the 680 GPH on the 500 GPH pump.Unfortunately, I had been hoping to return which ever pump I did not use, so the prefilter breaking busted that plan.I will say that the mouth piece on the pump is a little odd too. It's a nice idea to have a double outlet but it doesn't close up well to use only the smaller outlet.I had to put an extra piece of piping with a valve to keep it from leaking out.Maybe that's just mine. It'd be much better to have an adapter that just allows for the smaller size aswell.

I'd be okay with 1 season!!!
Very easy to operate and maintain. Great flow and veratility! 4/5 my five girls were just in there, thats where the grass came from, but it'll be out of there in no time! (That waters about 3 days old nd the girls have been in and out a hundred times since then!)Update: for max filtration it works best with the extension tubing attached (no "pretty" attachment) and the unit laying on its side. I create a vortex by angeling the "clean water" output so it creates a circular motion w/i the pool...this wouldnt be nessicary for a pond, as sediment isnt an issue..for the most part.

I checked and my old one lasted 5 years
Had to order a replacement for my old pump that stopped working. I ordered this back in 2017 and just had to replace it. Nice lasting product!

2 Months and Not Working
I have had, and run, several pond pumps but I needed this Beckett 500 GPH to run a secondary, small water feature in my koi pond. I have the sponge filter attached and it is all in a mesh bag to keep debris out. When power is cut to clean the sponge, for example, the pump will restart, it is powered and you can feel the motor running, but no water is flowing. As another reviewer noted the impeller seems to freeze up when power is cut and turned back on, but without the impeller providing cooling water the motor will burn out . I do suspect the impeller needs to be replaced, which happens with my bigger pumps, but not after only two months! Not impressed with this Beckett pump at this point. Now to see if they sell an impeller for this as I hate to just throw stuff away.
