Very good grips, sturdy and ling lasting
Had these for many years, lots of crashes, still going strong on the MTB. No complaints.

2nd time buyer-these are a must
I blew out one of my wrists moving furniture, and I am a huge klutz so I don't ride w/drop bars like the fast kids. Hubby found these recommended by a fellow member of his bike forum and put them on my first bike. (BTW, they were recommend by a guy w/diabetes-related nueropathy in his hands.) Hubby did have to cut the handlebars on that bike but I never noticed. I LOVED these! They look nice and feel great. Hubby bought a pair as well (small was fine for his regular-size man hands). When I recently swapped bikes, I immediately ordered another set.I would like to give them 4.75 stars, because they're just that close to perfect.I wish they were all black. Stupid and shallow, I know. I'm not actually taking stars off for this.I would like to see a longer portion of horizontal extension at the top so that the rider could choose to change to a more upright position.Really, these things are genius and you should get them. They are the single-most important improvement on my bike.

Great for climbing hills
The GP5s are a great addition to my Trek 7.2 FX. I am able to lean forward while standing, when climbing hills. They really allow for a much more efficient body position and I am able to climb hills I wouldn't have even tried previously. My hands sweat when I ride but with the Ergon grips the grooves keep my palm firmly in contact with the grips at all times. I feel very secure. The grips look great and the fact that the horns are integrated with the grips just makes for a nicer presentation. I appreciate the multiple hand positions, and the grips conform to my hands very nicely. I got the small size based on some other reviews, but I think I would have preferred the larger grip. My hands are fat and stubby, right in between a small and large glove. i tried the large on at the Trek store, after i had already installed the Ergon grips gotten via amazon, so it was too late to switch... the large is not that much bigger than the small. Keep that in mind when deciding between the two.I would highly recommend the GP5s.

Feeling's back in my hands
I got this grip to improve my ride posture and to help relieve the ulnar and median nerve entrapment that always became a nagging problem on the longer rides. The adjustable design provides countless grip positions-the horizontal grip can be adjusted about the axis of the handlebar while the bar extensions can be adjusted from about 20 degrees from the vertical to almost horizontal. Now, while cruising to work, I can maintain a more upright posture. My back and neck are very thankful. You'll find out how remarkable the base grip is after you compare it to your old one. Its odd, ergonomic shape creates less extension at the wrists, relieving pressure on your nerves, so that you don't feel like you have carpal tunnel syndrome. If you feel like your fingers get numb during long rides, these grips are for you.It is very easy to install. All you need as an appropriately sized hex key. Be careful though. If you have a gripshift bike like I have, there is a different, shorter version you should buy.Great product. Worth the higher price.

Ergon GP5 - Great Grips
An old college knee injury has been limiting the amount I can run so I have been supplementing my cardio by riding my Hybrid Raleigh 10 miles round trip 6 days a week. After riding only a couple of miles my hands started hurting resulting in a very uncomfortable ride. I visited the bike shop where I purchased my bike and made multiple attempts to get re-fitted in an effort to help minimize the discomfort but I was still experiencing the numbness and pain only after a short while of riding. After doing some research online I came across the Ergon GP5 Handlebar Grips and decided to give them a shot. I received and installed them a few weeks ago and they have been GREAT! It took a few rides to get them exactly the way I wanted them and they were easy to install.

I like this grip a lot
I like this grip a lot, but it absolutely wouldn't work the way it was designed...that is by firming the attached bolts. The only way I could secure these grips on MY handle bars is to glue them. ...and I tried various glues to be met with failure. Fineally, I came upon Goop Household glue which works well, but don't be stingy with it. Now that its on the bike, and secure, it is very comfortable and gives many hand positions for hand relief.

comfortable and sturdy
I used these grips for a flat bar conversion on a touring bike. I was really worried that the plastic bar-ends were going to feel flimsy. But I've been using them a week now and I'm pleasantly surprised. The bar ends fit my hand very nicely and don't feel flimsy at all. Inside the end cap, they wrap around the handlebar with all metal hardware (molded inside the plastic). I don't think I would use these for hard mountain biking or downhill, but for a touring bike, they're perfect.

Added Comfort
I added these to my stock MTB handlebars as I have converted it to a hybrid commuter. The grips are ergonomic and make riding much more comfortable. My hands don't get numb anymore. These are really flexible becasue you can either grab the bar ends or the ergo grips which have a pleasant rubber feel. I like being able to adjust the angle of the grip and bar ends. The only negative is that the plastic on the bar ends is soft, so my "bullhorns" already have some road rash, just from flipping my bike over.

Easy to fit and adjust
My wife has a hand injury that makes riding a road bike with drop handlebars impossible so I bought her a road bike with flat bars. However, this didn't offer any alternative hand positions to relieve strain on longer rides so I bought these GP5 for her to give several different hand positions she can use during a long ride. Feedback from her is very positive, she likes the size and angle and the larger palm pad gives better support in normal position too.NOTE: It does say they aren't suitable for carbon fibre handbars but I have fitted them to her Canyon Roadlite which has carbon bars and they work fine. However, you must ensure you use a proper (accurate) torque wrench so you don't overtighten them and crack the carbon bars AND you must use some kind of Carbon grip paste.
