This works good for on road and touring
Does the trick to catch small particles of metal on my 2013 KLR650, I just wish I would have gone with a low profile plug as I'm getting more into off roading. This works good for on road and touring.

Works as advertised
The pictures on this item seem to vary from the black plug to the silver one. I received the black on and didn't find the metal to be any softer than the OEM plug.

Does what it's supposed to do....MAGNIFIES!
Metal is a little soft so be careful not to over torque bolt. The bolt head was soft enough to drill holes for safety wire. The magnet is fairly strong. Highly recommend using magnetics drain plugs for all applications.

Chase the threads !
This magnetic drain plug for the KLR is an excellent idea - but it would not hand thread into my KLR. I took a M12 x 1.5 thread cutting die and ran it over the threads. It did not cut new threads - it just "cleaned up" the existing threads on the plug. It would then hand thread nicely into the drain plug hole. Tightened with a wrench no problem.Differences from stock plug : 1 - it uses a 14 mm wrench instead of 17 mm wrench. 2 - It is not a "low profile" plug - it's fairly standard. So, if you do heavy off roading, you could actually hit it on something. Not likely an issue for highway riding.I would recommend the plug for anyone with a KLR that has access to the correct die to chase the threads. If you do not have access to the correct tools, I would not take the chance of forcing this into the bike. Happy Motoring !

Drain plug
A nicely made unit. I have seen the difference that magnets make on capturing stray ferrous material that can seriously damage your prize. I would definitely recommend this product.Another happy customer. Don.

Nice product, does what it says.
Not much needed to be said, it's a perfect fit and works very well catching any tiny metal debris. I would highly recommend it.
