Blues Rhythm Guitar Book/Online Audio (Master Class)

I have been playing blues guitar for just about 5 years now. I am preparing to go to my first blues jam. As far as soloing is concerned, I am a beginner as you would expect, having only played for a few years. It is what it is, and I will do my best. However, when it is my turn to play the accompaniment, I am very concerned that I might mess others up or play the same old chords over and over again and even bore myself. Since I will spend most of my time playing chords at these blues jams, I thought it would be good to get a book like this one, so I ordered it. What a fantastic book. I even took it to my guitar instructor, who within 30 seconds was very impressed. I highly recommend this book. I am not versed in guitar/music enough to blab on about it in a technical matter, but just as well, it is awesome!!! I think that I should be fine at the jam within a month or two after using this book. Examples are good, explanations are adequate, and the fingerings also help. Great book.....

I've owned this book for over 4 years and I am still constantly reaching for this book. It is the proverbial Blues Bible. If your goal is to master classic electric blues accompaniment, I don't think a better book exists.The examples are all authentic rhythm parts you'll want to use in your playing. This isn't a book for total beginners. I've been playing for over 40 years (semi-pro) and this continues to inspire and improve my knowledge of the blues.

this book does have a good step by step procedure. Its not too slow but at times it can get faster than you would like. It would be nice that if you had trouble with a definition or a explanation you could go on line for a more complete understanding. I bet soon at some point we will see that. I like the book because with out rhythm there is no back bone to the song. but once that is established you can develop a good lead from it..

If you're a beginner or you've been playing for a while and need a sense of direction with your guitar, then this is the book for you! I've had my guitar for just over a year, and I never wanted to take the book approach to learning guitar, how wrong was I?Very wrong, I have quite a collection of instructional dvds, one for each aspect of guitar, theory, rhythm, etc. I'm figuring that with the majority of beginner guitarist, you have tons of information but no instrutions on how to use it and/or play it. This book opended the flood gates for me! Each section gives an indept explanation of what you're about to learn, and then you play it out over a live backing track with the instructor! This is really the key to understanding everything that you learn for the guitar such as progressions, fretboard and so on. After a couple of pages a years worth of shattered information came together, and I could understand tons of things i couldn't before. Get this book!

Excellent Blues Rhythm Guitar lessons. Keep in mind this is *rhythm* guitar book. Much like the drums and bass, rhythm provides a foundation for the band headliner. It's a support role. This isn't a book about how to upstage the band leader. Take the time and listen through the entire CD. There's a huge variety of rhythms. I've been playing guitar for 45 years, and found lots of useful ideas in the book. Incorporate each lesson into a blues song right away. A solid rhythm player is noticed and appreciated by the audience, even if you don't get all the groupies to yourself.

I love this book, if you play straight blues you will love it, it is a survey of the history of blues rhythm. The tracks are flawless and the explanations very clear. From slow to mambo, from funk to shuffle or minor, even some swing and jazz. If you are more jazz oriented you might prefer the complete rhythm guitar guide for blues bands, which has a lot more different jazz blues progressions. But this book is the best out there for learning straight electric blues rhythm. I usually dig anything that comes from Keith Wyatt, and the MI books are all top quality.

I purchased Keith's Blues Lead Guitar book and loved it, but recognized that my rhythm blues guitar knowledge was rudimentary so I purchased his book on blues rhythm. It's a great book and lays the foundation for great blues rhythm playing. For beginners and intermediate players and the person who has been playing for years and wants to fill in the gaps, this is a great book. I highly recommend this or any of Keith Wyatt's instructional books.

This book covers a lot of ground. I have likes almost all of Wyatt's book and they appear deceptively simple. However, you could spend a long, long time with this book and never get to the end. This is a book for a person who really wants to learn music not just a few songs.

i recommend this along with "the complete guide to play blues guitar" in 3 volumes. study these and you can jump on stage, jam, improvise, it's some amazing knowledge to be gained.

Ein tolles Buch! Ich habe es erstmal verschlungen und im 2. Durchgang erarbeitet. Logisch aufgebaut und klar strukturiert. Zerlegt ein großes Thema in die Bestandteile und bringt diese gut rüber. Einiges Grundwissen ist erforderlich um alles verstehen zu können. Audio-Material (per Download) war mir vor Allem bei den Rhythmus-Übungen hilfreich. Klare Empfehlung.

I had some idea about how blues are played after working on them from so many years. However I needed a book that gave me a thorough understanding of the blues rather than my using the time to research on my own. This book is excellent as it covers almost all important parts of Blues eras. It has certainly given a meaningful perspective to my blues knowledge.
