Watch your fingers…
I bought a set of seven of these and I am enjoying the heck out of them; most luxurious kitchen knives I’ve ever owned. Coming from Spanish Henkels that were just meh. The Kyoku Shoguns are weighty, quite stout in the hand. The weight is a common complaint I am reading about these, however I love the heft of these. It screams quality construction. I suppose one possible downside is the handles get very slick when they are wet and dropping it could damage your floors (mine are made of wood), or worse yet your foot. But I nitpick…The Damascus in the steel is very light in appearance and subtle, but quite beautiful and tasteful. The handle design is superb in my opinion and fit my largish hands perfectly. These babies are ultra sharp out of the box. I suggest spending a few more bucks on a higher end cutting board and the VG10 blades should last quite a while without the need to resharpen. My touch up system is an oval diamond rod, but I haven’t needed to use it as of yet. When on sale, these knives are a sensational value. I don’t think you can go wrong with the Shoguns unless you enjoy lightweight cutting tools. These don’t fit that bill.

Seems like a great knife for the price. Don't remember exactly what I paid, but it's high quality...

Wow best knife I've ever owned!
This knife is EXTREMELY sharp, has a nice weight and is incredibly well balanced. It goes through meat and veggies so well you'd swear you were using a light saber! Definitely not an ordinary kitchen/Chefs knife, you need to pay attention while using it and WATCH YOUR FINGERS! I bought the Kiritsuke and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone that enjoys cooking.

One of the best knives I own
This knife is top quality - both looks and function. The blade is super sharp and is shaped perfectly for a variety of tasks. I’m confident it’ll hold an edge given the steel used - in fact all materials are top shelf and result in a very durable knife. The polish on the steel ensures a quick clean after use.

Great knives if you understand what you're getting
I have every one of the Daimyo Series knives. They are great knives for the money. If I were purchasing again, or if you are wanting to build a set, start with the Utility, then Kiritsuke, then Serrated. then maybe the Santoku, and stretching to the Carver. The steak knives are also great if you need those. The rest should be purely purpose based as this basic set can do almost everything.Pros:- Well balanced- Hefty in the hand. I prefer front heavier knives, and these are that- Great feel and very 'holdable'. Grip fit is excellent. I find myself resting my index finger on top of the handle when using for some reason- Crazy sharp out of the box- Look great brand new. Very 'show-able'- Full tang- Handles are excellent and very nice looking. The fancy rivets are a nice touch.- Still my favoritesCons:- I find that they sharpen very easily. Not so bad but a high quality VG10 steel should be difficult to sharpen in my experience.- After a year, the 'Damascus Hammering' marks are largely gone from my Kiritsuke and Utility. Clearly this was etched on and not really hammering marks. A year of cleaning and sharpening has left these looking like regular non-Damascus knives- There is no block that holds any real number of these knives if you want them handy or on display. I had to modify a Zwilling Pro 16 slot block to hold them all perfectly. I am reluctant to throw sharp knives into a drawer, and am not patient enough to keep putting the sleeves back on.All in all I love these knives. I see they have changed some of the verbiage to now represent these as "beautifully laminated' Damascus. That's a change from when I bought them when they were represented as 'Damascus Steel'. That's why I take away a star. Regardless, I do also have a set of Wusthof knives that I rarely ever get out anymore. These are that good. Feel safe that you are still getting great knives at a reasonable cost, just don't really expect Damascus steel hammered in Japan with real hammering marks that will hold up over time. The steel is on the harder side so they hold up very well. Oh and watch for the sale; some of the sales on these are amazing.

Sharp, Beautiful Cleaver for Cooking Enthusiasts
I bought this vegetable cleaver for my wife as a Christmas gift, and it turned out to be her favorite present! She loves cooking, and this cleaver has quickly become one of her go-to kitchen tools. It’s incredibly sharp and cuts through just about anything, including tough avocado pits with ease. We’ve been using it for over two years now, and it’s stayed in fantastic shape. The blade has kept its sharpness, and the overall build is still solid. It feels great in the hand and has definitely made prepping ingredients quicker and easier. It cuts incredibly accurately and has many functions. If you or someone you know has a passion for cooking, I highly recommend this cleaver. It's worth the high price point. It’s durable, sharp, and perfect for anyone who wants to elevate their kitchen game!
