5800FLOOD Wireless Leak Detector Sensor by Honeywell

If you're familiar with coding a Vista 20P the installation, programming and operational verification aren't too challenging. However, it would be helpful if the Amazon product description included the installation installation materials (they are printed on the inside of the box). From a programming point of view it is 3 detectors, each required detection function requiring its own zone. The installation materials should include a description of defining the custom word for "flood" or "water", neither of which are predefined in the Vista code. Once coded operational verification is easy enough.

Glad Honeywell came out with a easier flood sensor. No more dealing with external parts, this has the prob built-in on the bottom, just program it and place it on the floor! I tested it, has a fast response rate to water, I feel this will alert me in the time of a water over flow!

The Honeywell 5800FLOOD is specifically designed to detect flood. The installation instruction says the unit response is 40 seconds (nominal) to one minute (maximal). I've tested my unit and the response time in 3 tries is from 20 seconds to 30 seconds. I prefer the 5800FLOOD over the 5821 because of the faster response time (the 5821 may take up to 3 minutes). It also has a built-in water probe under the unit (the 5821 needs an external probe).

Nothing fancy about a flood detector. And this is what you want. Make sure it is reliable and compatible with your alarm system.A lot of leak/flood sensors are available but many of them don't work well or cost a lot of money.If you have a Honeywell/Resideo Vista alarm system, this is the way to go. The programming is a little bit complicated (not because of sensor but alarm system...) but it only needs to be done once.Solid device providing peace of mind and most likely insurance savings than more than pay for the unit.Highly recommended!

Annoyed that these are new but scratched.

one star for it breaking down during warranty and being unable to claim it. Honeywell was totally unresponsive to my needs. Amazon was there to help and they will send me a replacement. They did not have to.got one of these to install under the kitchen sink with a new iSpring ROWPU.Got two more after, one for my water heater and one for the A/C unit in the attic.Very easy to add to existing alarm system.
