Jackpot!
The media could not be loaded. I bought play food for my toddler once, the bright, colorful many pieces kind of play food. While I was getting the pieces out of the toy shopper's basket, my toddler's eyes were glowing with intrigue. However, this quickly burned after she realized that there was only so much spinning and tossing you could do with hard, unevenly shaped plastic toys. You can imagine then, when I saw the same kinds of play foods in cuttable version, I was excitedly curious. Turns out they came with the same shopper's basket that I bought with the first play food set, but these included play knives, play cutting boards, and even plates! All the foods were already stuck together by the Velcro too. Then, my toddler heard the satisfying crunch of my knife as it was cutting through velcro, and she was glued to my side. She named each item as she watched me crunch, crunch, crunch away with my knife, and it didn't end there. She picked up her treasure and ran back to her room to continue with the cutting. Jackpot!Let me reiterate the main positive points:1. The foods are BRIGHTLY colorful2. The velcro is tough enough to hold together, but not too tough to cut through, AND it's durable (the food can be stuck and unstuck as many times as needed without weakening, or so it seems).3. The size of the food is agreeable to toddler hands (there are no small enough pieces that can be swallowed)4. From an educational standpoint, you can practice labeling foods, practice the concept of halving, and practice sharing5. Did I mention how delightful it is to cut the food? It's a satisfying sound and a realistic feeling (I've shared some videos so you can get a better idea, but please note, if I was able to use my other hand to hold onto the food rather than the camera, it would have been better).Downside? Maybe. Perhaps, it could be viewed more like wishful thinking: I wish the cutting boards were slightly bigger. There were two cutting boards and I would have made each one half the length of the basket that they came in. Packing them at that size wouldn't have been an issue because they could have been placed at the bottom of the basket. Why do I wish for a slightly bigger cutting board? Because for inexperienced, little hands, the play food rolls around and rolls right off the cutting board. Besides, even the smallest cutting board I have is almost half the length of the basket. It just seems sensible.Overall, my toddler and I love the product. It was an excellent purchase, and if they offered more baskets of cuttable foods --different kinds of fruits and food so we can continue to practice labeling a variety of foods--I would order more. They would have to color code the baskets in order to avoid purchasing the same food groups. In fact, I can see a collectible items type of thing going on here, and I would be sure to collect!

super cute set - velcro holds them together securely
I was looking at sets for my grandson and didn't realize this one had Velcro and not magnets. He is 18 mos old and loves the toy, although the Velcro is pretty hard to pull apart, even for me. If you use the knife, you can get the pieces apart but he hasn't quite figured out how to do that yet, but I'm sure he will grow into that. I think the magnet would probably be easier for him to use without frustration but I think the fact that the Velcro really does hold them together well, that's more of a positive than negative. I'd rather him grow into this than get bored with it too quickly!

Duriable
Love that all pieces connected. The coloring of all food last. Perfect size no pieces are to small. The basket is also perfect for this toy

Hours of fun for my son
I received this product while my 2 year old was taking his nap. I unwrapped it and set it next to him. When he woke up, he glanced over at the basket of fruits and veggies and his eyes lit up! He doesn't play with it like I thought he would. He doesn't use the knife to cut and he doesn't want anyone to show him. He rips everything apart and creates hybrids. He made a fish pineapple! Anyway, he was busy at play for hours (I kid you not). Emptying the basket, putting everything back, carrying his basket to a new location and unloading once again. I love that he loves this set!The only con as for now is that the velcro stickers on some pieces are starting to peel. Just be ready to glue back together if needed.

Engaging, versatile and fun!
This set is a lot of fun. My 2 yr old really enjoys it. We "go shopping" pick the fruits & veggies we want and make the most awesome pizza's. 2 set's of knifes & cutting board is nice and encourages sharing. The shopping basket is small and simple for him to use.The only negative thing I can say about this set is the knifes are a little flimsies, I mean that they bend/break at the handle very easily. I have reinforced it at the base with some glue and we will see how long that lasts, but otherwise we are very happy with this purchase and would recommend this gift set to others.

Best toy food items
I have looked at many toy food items but these are absolutely the best. My 3 year old grandson loves them and plays with them regularly in his "kitchen". They are sturdy, colorful but fairly realistic and the fun "cutting" feature is what makes them so special. It is easy to do with the play knives and they make the most wonderful "crunch" sound when cutting through the velcro. The velcro is attached very well and shows no sign of age or tear after many, many uses.

Great for building motor skills!!!
I have two boys age 5 and 3 who love to pretend to cook. I bought this set a months ago and it continues to be a favorite on a daily basis. It has already outlasted many of the plastic or cardboard food sets I have bought. It is also an extra bonus that they have to figure out how to put the food back together so it looks right! It has been a big plus for me that it came with TWO knives and TWO stoage box. I will be buying this as a gift for many of my friends' kids in the future!
