You Are Psychic: The Art of Clairvoyant Reading and Healing by Debra Lynne Katz (2015-04-16) Paperback

This book is a thorough, practical and clearly written manual on psychic development. I’m very glad I decided to read it. However, has no-one else noticed the weirdly unempathetic and judgmental wording she slips into throughout the book? It feels out place, and sometimes even like internalized misogyny. (For instance, she repeatedly calls women in distress ”hysterical,” and refers to them as having a “martyr complex,” “extremely chunky,” ”greedy,” people having ”garbage” in their head... The list goes on and on.) Apart from this off-putting tone, I recommend this book.

I trained in the same lineage of clairvoyant training as Debra Lynne Katz, via a different school that branched off the original teacher's work: Aesclepion in San Rafael, CA. I deeply appreciated this book and also Extraordinary Psychic because, while I learned to give readings and clairvoyant energy healings via my year-long training, we did not have any written materials to help us revisit pieces of information we went unconscious around... nor did we receive any training on HOW to be a reader - in terms of managing the client/reader relationship and so forth.I appreciate Debra's clear and concise delivery of the information as well as her stories of the lived experience of conducting readings. Her information is absolutely spot on for how to access clairvoyance.However, this is where I only give the book four stars...It's not Debra's fault. Developing clairvoyance is an ACTIVE process. You must practice constantly. And it's not something you can easily do by yourself. In clairvoyant training we had phone classes and each week we would trade readings with other students, as well as read those requesting student reads through the school. This safe practice space allowed us to just dive in and see what came up, without worrying if we'd see anything... whether we'd be right... we were able to ease through a lot of the fears, doubts and energies that block one from accessing their clairvoyance. A book simply can't recreate that environment.My recommendation if you've not received the results you desire with this or any other book on clairvoyance:Find a group of friends, an interactive school, or a meetup where you can practice trading reads in a safe, non-judgmental environment, using the tools and information contained in this book - because it is ALL in here. That is the way to truly access your capabilities - because the main things that block clairvoyance are: lack of neutrality (you're feeling your doubts or fears about whether you'll see anything, or you feel a strong charge on the content you're reading and the answer you want to see)... other people's energy in your space... and lack of personal sovereignty, meaning you don't deeply trust and believe you can see.These are the natural things we each work through healing and releasing in training and practice. It's not about activating your abilities - you already have them. It's about clearing out everything that IS NOT you, that is blocking you from using those abilities. And a book simply can't do that. It can only give you the information to do that for yourself.Trust and know that you can access your clairvoyance. But it will be like learning how to crawl and then how to walk. Keep at it, keep practicing. And you will discover your inner power to see. ;)I hope that helps!!

There are SO many books out there explaining how to become intuitive - or tune INTO one's intuitive nature. This is the BEST one I have found that actually explains it all. Easy to read format, step by step instructions... my meditation sessions have become so much clearer and deeper as a result of reading this book. I am also truly one step closer to breaking through to intuition and clairvoyance...! As someone once told me... it's like going from the "have to", to the "want to". It simply becomes a part of your life!

This book is so wonderful! Debra gives specific details about how to develop your clairevoyanct skills. It's amazing! Debra offers classes too that are phenomenal! It took me weeks to buy the book because her classes are so good. Now that I have her book, I wonder what took me so long. Lol! Both the book and her classes are incredible! If you practice, you'll see the results of your investment. The book is easy to understand, detailed, well written. No fluff or foo foo. Very thorough. Debra is a teacher and you can feel her teaching you one on one in this book. This is a book you do not want to lend out because I assure you, you won't get it back. Its funny how that happens with your most treasured books. Lol! This book is one that you would want to return to for reference. In her classes, you will not use books or anything because you'll learn through experience. I can't say enough about Debra's teaching style through her books and classes. Try both for yourself.

I must disagree completely with the person who rated it one star. This is the finest book on 'how to be psychic' and it really really works. I also bought her second book: 'Extraordinary psychic' and it has extra information that is extremely good to add onto your work. My main work is as a healer and also I do tarot readings but have always felt that not much was coming through. I first read Lynne's book and tried some exercises and it started working but one needs discipline. I then had a few lessons from a lovely man who taught in a similar way to Lynne and he used some of her exercises and he guided me through. I then went back to her book for a second reading and it all just made even more sense. I did the exercises and found the images and intuition do work if you follow what she says and it made me realise that it was all about understanding my own intuitive language and understanding where it came from and how to tap into it. NO-one had ever explained that or showed me how. Once you find out how to see images and what to do with them, then the rest just falls into place. She has a lovely style of writing and is funny, informative and above all she is honest and generously shares all her knowledge. A lot of it I had thought about for years and in her book, she answers all my questions. I felt it was written for me. It was so heartening to read that you don't have to be born with the family gift. We can all do it and I am now doing it, my readings are now so much better and my healing clients are getting healing and intuitive insights and my clinic is getting busier and I am happier as I can now use Lynne's techniques in my life with great effect.Thank you Lynne for dispelling the myths and your no nonsense practical approach and fantastic tools to bring out our psychic sense to help ourselves and others.

I can only agree with the review from March 2011. English is not my first language as well and this book reads very well.I borrowed it two years ago in the library but kept thinking about it all the time so that I recently purchased the Kindle version. Even if you don't want to work as a clairvoyant the grounding and cleaning techniques which are described in the book are very helpful in your everyday life. I work in a high pressure environment and by using several techniques from the book I could detach better from people who entered my energy field and protect myself from energy vampires. I like the comment in the book, that if we would get paid for all the time where we are plugged in into our work, for example when we think permanently at home how to solve problems or are worried about a certain outcome we would get rich.By reading this book you will not just learn something about clairvoyance in but get a good understanding how the energy system works.

a great book and supplement to my course at psychic school. just go through it slowly. it takes a long time to get a hold of these techniques. more than recommended to the beginner x

This is the book that first got me in the process of developing my psychic abilities. Really inspiring and a great read for beginners!
