"Do not overtighten" is an unhelpful instruction that lacks specificity
This desk, which is very nice actually, weighs over 100 pounds. I am 73 years old. My son Tom and I lugged it up 3 flights of stairs of a typical Chicago 3-story apartment building. Assembly involved 6 screws for each of the 2 double leg pieces but the holes did not align exactly though we were able to complete the task. Within a couple weeks the solid wood desk top and sides began to split. We requested a replacement, lugged it up 3 flights again and brought the damaged 1 down and transported it back to my home for pickup. We assembled the new 1 and determined that the wood had split because the holes did not line up. We probably overtightened the screws which then put pressure on the wood as the forged leg units do not "give". In checking the instructions provided, it only says "do not overtighten the screws". That is a very relative and unhelpful instruction...! We hand tightened them with the allen wrench included. As the desk weighed more than 100 pounds we did not want to "under tighten" it.I feel strongly that Simplihome or Amazon owes us a credit after all the effort required, the result of poorly aligned holes for the screws and unclear instructions....

Heavy
Whether ‘heavy’ is good or bad up to you. Beware any desk with drawers like this is too thick for vesa monitor mount clamps. Have not found one.

Beautiful for a small space!
This desk is very sturdy! Beautifully made and has fold down drawer to easily set and use keyboard and I have enough space that I also added my mousepad and mouse. The only thing is that it has some slight shakiness when writing on it….not sure if it is an assembly or desk problem. Also to address the fine lines/groves…..which is the natural look and feel of the desk….I added a leather desk mat….which looks and works great!

Great desk!
The first one I got was destroyed by shipping (I assume) but the second came perfect. Easy to assemble, heavy duty and sturdy. The top is not smooth though, so if you plan to do writing, get a pad or glass top.

Good enough value for the price. Keeping it
The desk is very pretty across the room. It’s pretty in pictures, but the finish doesn’t look like real wood when you’re closer to it. The top looks like a screen print with Very fake looking knot holes and texture. I love the desk’s design and style. It seems very sturdy and is easy to assemble. If you want high end this isn’t it but it’s pretty enough for the price. Haven’t really used it yet. I’m still looking for the right chair.

Beautiful desk; measurement is off.
This is beautiful and very sturdy. There was a scratch on the underside but that's fine.Item was listed as both 30 inches and 24 inches in the description. It's 24 inches, which is narrower than my previous desk but still sufficiently large. One more note on a slight challenge. The center drawer is a keyboard drawer. However, it will not work with wired keyboards as there's no egress panel on the back side. Just be aware.Overall love it!

Real wood desk
Working from home due to COVID and needed a desk. I don’t like buying things that are cheap, easy fixes and thought I would invest a bit in my desk so I didn’t have a piece of junk to throw away within a few months. This desk is great. It is solid, was super easy to put together, and is compact enough to fit in my small office without over powering the room. It is a bit on the shallower side so if you have a large computer screen (like I do) it took a bit to get used to how close you are to it vs when I am in the office but no complaints. I will be holding on to this for several years.

I wanted to love this desk, but after attaching the legs they fell out
The desk cam well packed is heavy and nicely made. Not perfect, but with a kind of rustic finish. The Legs are major heavy-duty welded steel. Hence that's where the problem lies. The Pine is very soft, and the legs attach with screwed-in anchors into the bottom. Unfortunately, the anchors do not go all the way through the soft Pine and are easily pulled out. Just the legs' weight is enough to pull the screw in anchors out of the wood. After attaching the legs, I flipped the desk over to rest on the legs, and one leg pulled the anchors out. Almost no damage to the wood, but it's regrettable how excellent and heavy the desk is, and all they needed to do was have the anchors flanged on the inside. Also, a minor complaint is that the drawers were manufactured upside down. The handles are on the top of the drawers, not the bottom, so they are useless, clearly a manufacturing defect. I wanted to love this desk. Unfortunately, the manufacturer needs to have a better design for attaching the legs.
