Worked out of the box for my Meade LX200 GPS with Windows 10Pro
I've never submitted a review before, but this worked so easily with no hassle, I thought I'd perhaps help others in the same situation. I had the GPS rollover issue with my Meade LX200 GPS mount--it reverted to 2003 and picked alignment stars that were well below the horizon. I needed to upgrade to the latest software update and did not have the official Meade USB to serial to RS232 cabling, and didn't want to spend the money for them. I tried some USB to serial adapters that I had lying around with my Windows 10 Pro laptop and none of them recognized the mount. While looking for other adapters, I stumbled on this one claiming to be for Meade for about one quarter the price of the official ones. Plus, it went from USB directly to the RJ11 style cable that the mount uses, without a serial plug in between. Some reviewers said that this cable would require downloading a pretty common driver, but in my case it was not necessary. I plugged it in and it discovered the mount immediately, no driver required. I'm not a computer wizard, but am guessing that Windows 10 may already have the driver. Worked perfectly with my computer and mount. It's rare that something works as it should.

Worth the wait
It works. True, I've only tested it in my living room, but if it works here it should work outside on a dew-encrusted night. The usual attachment--connecting the supplied cable through a USB-to-RS-232 adapter--seems kludgy and archaic, and seems like a potential source of failure when lying in the grass waiting to be stepped on or soaked with dew. Or coffee. This new cable seems as well-made as any, is longer than I can imagine ever needing, and works. Plus, now I have a backup. . .always a good thing when miles from home in a dark-sky site. It took a month to get here from China--hey, Letotech, can't you do any better than that??--but it was worth the wait. I hope that if a few more of us buy it, maybe they'll put a little more money into the shipping. Still, I'm grateful Letotech has made it for us, and recommend it if you have an iOptron EQ mount that needs it.

You must download & install a driver for this cable
Worked fine once I realized the cable is a UART and I had to install a driver for it. Was having trouble, getting error messages, checked Device Manager, and realized there’s a UART in this cable, which requires a driver. Looked it up on the web and found one, but it wouldn’t auto-install. I had to manually install it. Suddenly, COM4 appeared and there was the mount. My mount is an LX200GPS, and I still need to connect the handset for this to work, sadly. Meade has discontinued making the Autostart II handset, so the mount is doomed to become obsolete unless someone else makes handsets or an emulator. This cable works fine, though, once you figure out the driver software & install it.

i used this with a meade replacement power adapter which works well too.
I used this with a replacement meade power adapter. I installed the cable on 2 old windows machines and using the device manager in windows determined the exact spelling of the controller to download from the manufacture web site. It works on a 2008 windows machine and 2021 windows machine.

Checks the boxes, but is garbage
Garbage. This is a usb to serial cable that has the correct connections and seems to be of good quality. It is recognized and has a com port by Windows. It does allow connection to telescope. However, the telescope wasn’t able to fully work with the current Meade Ascom driver. The current Ascom driver is very chatty and commands it sent were not reliably received by telescope. This was most obvious with runaway slewing when trying to nudge the telescope to center items in frame of camera. Not only did I waste my rime, I als wasted the developer of the drivers time troubleshooting the issue. I blame the CP2102 chipset and the driver. I tried many different drivers, either the CP2102 chipset is crap or this is a clone chip. AVOID!

Appears to be good quality product, but didn't work on my older Meade controller
Plugged this into my telescope and tried to download/update my software - no luck. Meade controller "use Autostar ETX with this model" but I've been unable to reboot or restart the controller (it is locked on this screen). I noticed the USB plug got very hot when I first plugged it into my laptop, but it eventually cooled off. Downloaded Meade software from multiple websites with no luck, may try another laptop. Purchased this telescope at Goodwill recently, I believe it is from 2001.

Meade LX-90 Savior Product!!! Works PERFECTLY!
If you have an LX-90 do not waste your money on the #505 cable connector and serial-USB adapter!!! I already tried it and it was a major bust. Buy this SINGLE calbe and it'll get the job done! I even received it super quick! Only one week from order to delivery. I had some problems on the settings with PHD, Stellarium, and the Auto suite, but I re-started my Windows 10 laptop and then SNAP, it worked! Guiding my telescope with Stellarium is a breeze!

connection to windows 10 or windows 2007
While the windows 10 and windows 2007 laptops recognized this cable (windows 10 automatically and windows 2007 after driver updates), the Meade LX200 GPS telescope autostar 6.1 software still did not recognize the LX200. I will have to end up buying the $49 rs232 cable which I was trying to avoid to update my autostar firmware. This USB cable may work for scope control with other software but not for firmware updates using the Autostar 6.1 suite.
