Rising Strong

You know how we are always similar to the people we surround ourselves with? We always look at ourselves through other people's eyes. This book changes all that. This book is all about being compassionate to yourself while you fall, and finding the grit to be honest about our failures and dealing with the big bossy emotion called "shame". This book offers you strategies on how to be brave with your emotions, and how to sort through them. There are three specific truths that really shook things upside down for me: 1. That we are always doing our best, no matter what. If we knew better, we would do better. And other people are also doing their best, no matter what. If they knew better, they would be doing better. Once we recognise this truth, it is easier to let go of blaming yourself and others and it gets easier to forgive and move on. 2. People who judge themselves for receiving help, are indirectly judging those who ask for help. That is how humanity works - we all need help sometime and we all need to help others sometime. There's no being weak or strong or superior or inferior in this whole exchange of help. 3. The value of having authentic regrets in life- “No regrets" doesn't mean living with courage, it means living without reflection. To live without regret is to believe you have nothing to learn, no amends to make, and no opportunity to be braver with your life. There are many such nuggets of wisdom. The gist of the book is - You cannot really be brave with your emotions if you are busy denying them or rejecting them or shaming yourself for having them. This book is about being brave inside-out. [I bought a paperback version of this book. The fonts are okay, the paper quality could have been better, but the content of the book negates all complaints on the quality of the paper. It is worth reading in any form whatever.]

This book is a masterpiece for self motivation and realisation..!! A must read book to reinstate faith in self.

It is a kind of book that one must keep by his side throughout the day. I feel priviledged that I came across this book and picked it up. Dr. Brown has written this book so beautifully; citing examples from her daily life has made it more relatable. Many lines and some chapters have added a new angle to my thinking. I am in love with the motive of this book. Rising strong -practice will make a difference.

This book is one of the finest book I have ever read. I have fallen in love with the authoress of this book after reading this book. A must read if you are dealing with failure & want to rise strongly after a failure.

A compulsory read for people going through loss, breakup or estrangement etc. It gives you a new perspective and helps you rumble with the circumstances to find a way and meaning to the situation.

Hands down, one of the most important book one can read! :)

Amazing book. Simple and direct. All the things discussed in the book will be relatable to everyone. It's a book that I will keep going back to.

Found it kind of OK. Some nice insights surely and quality of writing is good but I am not really convinced that the stories and examples cited happened as described. At times they don't seem real to me and kind of forced to tune it to the point that needs to be made. I also was left a little incomplete... I am unable to put words to that feeling. Rising strong is a catchy title too that publishers know how to pick. May be that is what is part of the incomplete feeling. I was expecting something more especially in terms of cases and examples.
