NOT Zinc Plated but still decent Crates
The Crate is not zinc plated as advertised but is actually painted with a hammerite type coating. Plating is a specific electro-chemical process.I purchased 2 but decided to keep them as they are sturdy and stronger than a lot of the cheaper ones.As I feared the paint has chipped in a couple of places around the locking catch but doesnt really pose any problems and after a couple of months daily useage in the car they are doing their job flawlessly.

It's a dog's life!
I saw this crate on other sites for the same price including a bed, but it was out of stock, so I bought it here and added a bed from Pets at Home which fitted in quite well. The crate was easy to put up and is a good size for my 12 weeks old Cocker Spaniel and will hopefully be big enough to house her when she is fully grown. The couple of small issues I have are that the upper latch on the front door has been welded on just off vertical, so this latch is a little more tricky to open then the others, but still OK. The other issue I've had has been with theclips used to secure the crate when it is folded. These do not secure anywhere, so when I lift the crate in and out the car I occassionally snag them on the seatbelt or some part of the car. I'll probably end up tying them one to the cage just to stop this as I don't see me folding it down much. It is reasonably heavy and my wife finds it difficult to manouvre by herself, so we have bought a 2nd canvas foldable carrier for her to use and take the pup out in her smaller car, so this crate will be used mostly in the house at night or when we have to leave the puppy alone for a short period.

You might want to make it more secure
We now have two of these cable tied together to make a super cage. The dogs (both about 20kg and about 2.5ft long) are happy enough with their house/prison and have plenty of room. Individually, each cage has plenty of room for a dog of the size of ours, a full sized retriever might find it a bit cramped though unless for just a short period.ProsSimple to assemblePacks away to a really neat unit for transportationFairly sturdy plastic floorTwo doors with decent locking mechasnismOnce assembled, a very stable, secure and safe environment for your dogsConsSome of the joints seem a little flimsy at first until you realise that with a pair of pliers you can make them much more secure. Once you've done that, they're fine. That's about it really. To make our double sized cage, it only needed a pair of pliers to remove the two end panels (which can always be added back at any time if necessary) and a few cable ties to lock the two cages together. Now the boys have a sleeping end and a feeding end and are over the moon!I only docked the star due to the need to tighten things up a bit but, i would recommend this product without hesitation.

Good, but ....,,,
It does as asked except that one of the door fasteners is too tight up to its surrounds to be able to make it securely fasten the door. The lower one works, and as my dog is a quiet wee thing there is no problem. I would rather the bottom tray actually filled the space. If your pet gets the runs then excrement could easily go onto the carpet below. My old one was better I think.

Good crate, but gap at bottom is too large
Good crate. We use it for our cockapoo puppy, and bought it to fit her (we hope) when she's fully grown, using it initially with the divider (though we eventually had a problem with that, described in my review of the divider). The only thing I'd criticise with the crate itself is the size of the gap around the bottom, which is more than big enough for her Nylabones and Kong Goodie Bones to slip through, to her great frustration (those being some of the few things that it's safe to leave with an unsupervised puppy). Could be better designed, and I think I'd look at other brands if buying again. But otherwise it's been fine.

Stated height is incorrect
This Savic crate is very sturdily made but it is not exactly as described. We chose it because of the stated 71cm height - the tallest one we could find for the length and width. When it arrived we were very disappointed to discover in reality it only measured 69cm - 2cm may not seem much but it does make a real difference as to how our dog can sit in it. Amazon were excellent and arranged for a replacement which arrived promptly but unfortunately, but not surprisingly, was also only 69cm high.Savic need to change the description!

Harry now in Residence
Bought this for our 9 week old labrador puppy and it is indispensible. He rests in it during the day when we need to be out on the farm and keep him secure, then sleeps all night happily in it. It's strong, which makes it a bit heavy, but can be moved around quite easily and loaded into the car for journeys. Fits in the back of the VW Golf with one of the seats down, and he settles very well on his weekly journey to and from the coast (60 miles each way). The plastic tray is easy to slot out for cleaning. Bought the Savic clamp on bowl for his food which works well too. The 'Residence' replaced a cage bought but returned which was comparatively flimsy and had a metal base which we decided would be difficult to keep in good condition. So glad we swapped.

Strongly built home
Bought largest recommended size for a Retriever. You need the wire divider as well whilst it is a puppy to prevent spoilage. Had it from when puppy was 8 weeks old. He loved it immediately and needed no encouragement to use it.Quite heavy - came with 4 plastic handles for lifting but one broke in transit & Amazon sorted it immediately. Have collapsed it and taken it with us on a weekend away - no issues although it filled the car's boot floor.Very well constructed with a neat locking system on both doors. Easily collapses when you need it to but otherwise very robust. 2 metal hooks lock frame for transit. Tempted to remove them when cage is static as they either lie on the floor and the puppy chews them or they slightly protrude into the sleeping area.Would recommend.
