ALTRA Women's Running Shoes Escalante 4

This is my first time trying these. Before these I used New Balance that were dis- continued, Brooks that didnt seem to have enough cushion, and Hoka that had TOO much cushion. What I love about these is that the shoe is shaped like a foot in the front and because of this my toes dont rub against the sneaker as I run. I normally get sneakers with wide toe box, but these have the room plus the shape! I have not gotten a blister or black toe since using these. They have just the right cushion without feeling spongy. Its feels like you are running barefoot only with a bit of cushion. I have been able to improve my running speed and distance with these , and even placed in my perspective age category in my last race (I’m 60). True to size , I normally wear 9.5 in New Balance and Hoka so I got 9.5 in these and they fit perfectly. Give em a try . Lower profile shoe that looks and feels great. I’m using them primarily for everyday walking at work, I’m not so sure I’d find them comfortable as a running shoe. They’re a little more narrow and not as deep as some of their other models, so I think they’d be uncomfortable if you have wider or thicker feet. My feet are fairly thin/bony/narrow and they fit fairly snug. Sometimes I have to size up in Altras, but the length was true to my normal size.

Great shoe. Escalates are sleek and stylish, especially in all black. Zero drop.I order a half size up in Altras and am happy. Normally I am 9.5 but I ordered a 10. I am 5’8”

I’m a 245lb individual with knee problems. I ended up taking these size 10s, fresh from the box, on a two mile hike with a paved trail. Zero fatigue! The shoe didn’t feel new, didn’t need breaking in, it felt like it was made for me. The size was perfect. I have one foot with high arches and the other is moderate, I typically get sore feet until new shoes can be broken in, but these had all the support. I have worn them every day, while walking an elementary school campus. I can squat, tiptoe, step, and do it all in these shoes without sore feet! I love them so much.

I can barely tie them at all! I really love these shoes; they’re actually my second pair because they’re some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. The only downside so far is that for both pairs, I needed to order longer laces. So if you want to wear them properly, I highly recommend picking up an extra pair of laces with your order!

The toe box looks like a clown shoe but it did help my foot pain.I wore out my first pair (wearing almost daily) in less than 6 months, which is frustrating but also what the podiatrist told me to expect.I wish they didn't have the white trim at the bottom, it shows so much dirt.

Beware this seller! Turns out the seller is in Slovakia and it took many weeks for the item to reach the USA. When it arrived I discovered the purple color was not as it appeared online. It is a very light color that will show dirt quickly. So, without even trying on the shoes I used the website to request a return. The return label sends the package back to Slovakia and I must purchase the postage with whatever carrier I want. The US Postal service charge would be $17.50. That has to be expensive! And to think I spent $10 more than the same item would have cost at REI for a color that does not even look as it was presented.

A great transitional shoe to move away from elevated heel or neutral support and to strengthen arches and feet.I wore Brooks for years that offered release after injury but, found just walking around my house barefoot on weekends instigated the return of plantar fasciitis discomfort. I researched more about transitioning slowly into a zero drop shoe and am very satisfied with my results in these Altra. After wearing these daily for just a few weeks my arches are stronger and going barefoot is no longer uncomfortable.
