NewPower99 Battery Replacement Kit for Google Nexus 5 with Tools, Video Instructions, Long Life Battery

The battery is marginally better than the unit it replaced. It drains at a rapid pace, and a full charge will last about 90 minutes. It performs like an old or refurbished battery, which it probably is. While better than my phone's old battery, I would only consider this as a temporary replacement until the inevitable upgrade to a new phone. My understanding from other customers is that new batteries for this phone (Nexus 5) have not been made for years, so using refurbished or old, unused batteries are the only choice.

Terrible battery and tools are cheap. It's life will not exceed your previous stock battery even brand new out of the box. In fact it will run out faster! The tools that come along are cheap and the plastic pry that opens the case and pulls pieces apart will bend almost immediately. The screw driver works fine, but you could most likely find the tools you need around the house.The major issue, and I mean major, is this battery does not supply enough power for anything remotely demanding. The phone shut off while trying to take pictures or send images. It will shut off when quickly doing 2 functions one after the other (like hitting reload or back on the browser one after the other). The battery will crash during games and other apps, right in the middle of loading or on a sign-in screen. And the worst part of it... when it crashes and the phone just shuts off, you can't turn the phone back on until you have it plugged in to charge. This has left me in many compromising situations.Also, when I sent the company feedback regarding the issue. I got absolutely no response.If your factory battery really does need to be replaced for whatever reason, pass this one up, maybe try one of the cheaper ones if your going to risk it blindly, because I cannot suggest an alternative. I put the factory battery back in my phone and I am happy again, besides that I have this over-priced piece of crap sitting here that I have zero use for and get get my money back.Update: any of these generic looking, one sentence reviews with 5 stars about this product are most definitely fake. This battery and the tools are overpriced and absolutely terrible quality products. DO NOT BUY THIS!

The battery life for this product was awful, as the battery only lasted a month before dying.

On the plus side, the DVD was clear and helpful, and the battery has been working great. On the minus side, the kit came with the wrong size screwdriver. The Nexus 5 needs a #0000 Phillips. The kit came with what appears to be a non-standard screwdriver slightly smaller than a #0000. It did not engage the screws. I contacted NewPower99 customer support and they were completely unhelpful. I was able to find my own #0000 and proceed using that. Those expecting the kit to provide everything they need will be disappointed.

I'd have no problem giving this product an excellent review, however the replacement process destroyed my phone through no fault of NewPower99 or their product. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and the tools were adequate to the task. The problem lay in the fact that, despite the fact that the Nexus 5 holds its battery in place very well, some "rocket scientist" at the factory had chosen to add a piece of double sided tape under the battery. This meant it took me over an hour to remove the battery, and by the time I'd gotten it out one teeny tiny little wire had been damaged, and the touchscreen no longer responds to touch.I am a retired electronics tech and very able to perform this task normally, but LGs addition of this totally ridiculous sort of "masterpiece of workmanship over engineering"doomed this project to failure.

Made phone work again. Hooray!
