After years of trying to cut reasonably uniform slices of my weekly sourdough loaves without much success with bread knives and bow saws, I finally broke down and bought this machine. The first time out of the box it worked amazingly well, effortlessly sawing off perfect, uniform slices of bread set to the thickness that I chose, just like the photo in the ad shows. Apart from a few breadcrumbs to knock off and wipe up when you're done, there is no mess to clean up. It comes with two wrenches for keeping screw and bolt tensions correct on the base and the sliding thickness plate. The circular blade is fastened with a Phillips head screw. Simple and effective.Aiding in its flawless bread slicing are its four suction cups at its base. Their suction power is incredible to the point of being difficult to break free when you’re finished. I slipped a dull butter knife under them to pry them from our countertop. Needless to say, the machine did not move an iota during operation.The machine’s design and functioning are excellent, and its overall build quality is good and sufficient to its purpose. The wood and paint are attractively finished. A word of caution: the last slice of bread gets your guiding hand very close to the sharp blade. I’m going to use a cut-proof kitchen glove from now on.My wife took a short video of me making a perfect slice the first time, but for some reason it would not upload. Too bad!

I admit to returning 2 of these, but 3 times was the charm. The first problem was not a product issue. The box arrived half smashed, and it was missing a part.. The second one I ordered was a problem. The slicing wheel was slightly off and it was not only hitting the side of the metal top when the handle was turned, but when it got to the last few slices it was SMASHING the bread into the open area at the lower board. Not okay.... I saw no way to adjust that?!Yet, I saw the positive reviews, and I soooo wanted this item to work! I don't like electrical things. It's a very nice weight, and feels like a quality item. So... I decided to give it one more try. The 3rd purchase has been great! It makes fast work of slicing up the bread! Easy to use and clean!I'm sooo happy I gave it one more chance. It was worth the purchase price in the long run.

After buying some not so great bread slicers, I decided to take a chance on a more expensive model. And boy am I glad I did. Not only does this cut the perfect slice of sandwich bread, it works great for artisan sourdough. It outperformed its competition by miles. The size is slim enough to put in a cabinet when not in use. The design makes it very functional, I appreciate the suction cups along the bottom that keep it in place, and the turnstile handle gives a deli flare! Cleaning is a breeze, just have to have a Philips head screwdriver on hand to remove the blade. Overall, a great purchase and definitely worth the price tag.

I use this to cut up the freshly baked sourdough that we make. This allows us to freeze it and just pull out what we need.The slicer has great suction cups to stop it sliding, but it keeps sticking when I didn’t intend, so I have to keep it on its side until I need itCleaning can be a little tedious. Y the blade is screwed in with a regular screw which could deform, an allen key head on the screw would have been better. Also the blade is riveted to a cog to make it go round, however I detect a wobble when the blade is tightly screwed in, hence risk of over tightening to prevent wobble and damaging the screw head.

Almost got a 4. The apparatus is made of very good materials - the board not so much. Since I'm not a fan of Salmonella, I sealed the board (and the handle) with some beeswax. And the suction cups, well they may identify as suction cups, but they are not. I actually clamp my unit to my counter and it operates much better. Your goal is to get that blade moving fast to ensure an even cut. I struggle to get the end of the slice to come out as thick as the beginning of the slice. Lately, I flip over the loaf when I get to almost 90% and start slicing from the other end. But overall its a better device for cutting home made bread than those "useless" cutter boards. That's why I spent the time to apply good ole American ingenuity to the China-made knockoff. In terms of the value for the money - really consider the more expensive American-made devices if you want a better product.

Really good sourdough bread slicer! I am glad I bought it because it is easy to use, cuts straight slices and looks to be very well constructed and not flimsy at all.I was hesitant because I had seen other slicer that mangle up the bread with the lever, but this slicer has a slice guide that protect the slice from being crushed or pushed by the lever.Works really well! Not ever going back to slicing my loaves that took so long to make with a knife and end up squeezing and crushing my bread and getting uneven slices all the time.The suction cups make it stable on my granite coutertops, doesnt move around.Really grest slicer! Trully recommend.

I own a sourdough cottage bakery and I really wanted this slicer to work…but it didn’t. The suction cups do not hold well at all. Not in my granite or my butcher block. After 3-4 weeks of use, the wood board started bowing and almost splitting down the middle. Those 2 things together make it not only unsafe, but impossible to use correctly.

Love this slicer. Slice the sourdought loafs felt like a very dangerous task everytime. Bought this using a discount code, at a very good price, but the value exceed the actual cost. Fully recommended. Also,is pretty good looking, so is a nice kitchen complement. The suction is very strong, and you can control the thickness of the slices. Very easy to clean. I like to take out the blade instead of trying to clean it in place.
