This worked out perfectly for me. I have had two Petsafe doors previously. The newer one (23 yrs old) I accidentally left behind when I last moved. I didn’t remember the brand and was confronted with a dazzling array of doors. I was quite a job finding a small opening on,the smaller of the two heights WITH a flap cover. I was so delighted when it came and was a Pet Safe. It is almost identical to the prior one. There is an improvement. Previously the doors had a SLIDING panel on to to adjust for heights the new design has this but it is spring loaded and a bit easier to fit in. I have never used weathering stripping or hardware with these doors. I out the door in,the track and close the slider then use a piece of wood behind the slider. This door is perfect. The first petsafe door I had cost $100 40 years ago and was not as nice (but just fine) as the two subsequent. I don’t know what I paid 23 years ago but this door cost less than twice the cost 40 years ago. I consider that a bargain.I have two cats. One has a lot of pet door experience. He went right out then spent some time outside staring at the door as if thinking “how did I miss this all this time?” The other cat has no experience but has often learned things from the more adventurous cat. Have high hopes.Finally this door says up to 15nlbs. My cat that has used it is quite large at 17 lbs. He had no problem slipping through.

Can’t beat it for the money. After seeing so many negative reviews or other doors costing two times as much, I’m more than happy with this choice. Easy to follow instructions without having to decipher a foreign language translation. If you can handle a drill and a Phillips screwdriver, your home free. It did not come with weatherstripping so for less than 10 bucks I bought it and applied it. Everything works great.

I have been wanting to get another pet door since we moved and was hoping the price would go down. Of course that never happened so I went ahead and bought it. We had one in our previous house and like many other things today, this one was not of the same quality. The frame was not as thick; the flap is not see-through (the cats liked being able to see through before entering). However, it is good and our electric bill will go down as we live in Florida and can't keep the door open all the time for the cats to go on the screen porch. I read all the reviews and was prepared to have to do some adjustments because the sliding door being 30 years old, I guessed it would not be "square". The tape that comes with it was not what I need as there were gaps so I bought window foam strips. That worked and it is now installed but it took a little while to get it "right". It looks great.

The first one we ordered came in and the box was torn up and the pet door was damaged. Shipping fault. But the return went without a hitch. No problems. I got it sent back and re-ordered and it came in just fine this time. My husband put it in and the cats are slowly figuring it out. You can see one of our calicos on the porch.

This is perfect for those renting or don't want to put a hole in your door! Also, if you wanted to go on a destination road trip, this would be easy to take along!! My dog is older, and I'm building a new house(with a slider), so I don't need to do anything besides install this in the new place(15 seconds:-).........I do use a stick to secure the slider!

We got this door as we have 3 Yorkies who like to make life hellish by not wanting to go out at the same time. Thus you have to get up and let one out, then a few minutes later the second and some time after that the third will decide to go. Yes I know we could just put them all out, then one stands at the door whining and one stands in the yard barking at the sky while the third uses the bathroom. And the two that didn't go will irritate you to go back out ten minutes after they come in. Yorkies are a lot like Gen Z, they complain a lot about having to do a little when it's not their way.So we go the door and installed it. It was missing the glass sweep. The latch mechanism for locking the door is so poorly explained that even after watching their video on youtube I still don't know how it is supposed to work. And it doesn't seal at all. It's design doesn't work well if you want to contain air. You end up leaving your sliding door 1/4 open when the door is installed and closed. So the two parts of your sliding door no longer meet up where the seal is. Had to put some weatherstripping in that gap to stop unabated airflow. But if you need to open the door, you will probably mess it up and have to redo it. The seal between the panel and door frame was horrible. Needed more weather stripping in there. And the seal between the door and the panel was also pretty bad. Add more weatherstripping. What I"m saying is, go to the hardware store and get a half mile of weatherstripping or order a truckload with this here. The glass of the panel is single pane, and it is not good at stopping cold. The seals in the panel around the glass is fair at best, and cold air gets through it. The gap in the upper panel let's in tons of cold air. I have a thermal camera and took some photos of the poor performance at keeping the cold out. The first photo is the sliding door and petsafe panel. The sliding door is dual pane glass. You can see how cold the petsafe door registers, 49 degrees inside the house. The sliding door glass registers 59 degrees. The dog door itself is showing 39 degrees, while it is about 25 degrees outside. Oddly enough the plastic door itself maintains a warmer temperature than the glass pane does. Installing this door made our kitchen a full 10 degrees colder than it was, and about that much colder than the next room which is not separated by a wall. We read where Petsafe says to use two of the plastic swinging doors when it's cold, but the yorkies are so small (<10lbs) that they already have to push it pretty hard to get out. Adding another would likely inhibit their desire to use it. We didn't expect it to be perfect by any means, but we did expect it to perform much better than it has for its price. I'd imagine others would find they have massive air leaks as well if they used a thermal imager.
