Craftsman 154 pc Mechanics Tool Set # 35154

We gave this to our son-in-law for Christmas. He loves it and had fun putting all the tools in their proper place in this case. He said it would be great to have to do projects around the house because all his tools would be there with him and not have to go back and forth to the garage for a tool. Its great for the guy who doesn't have a space in the garage for a workbench.

Recently bought this set and I have to say that I am quite satisfied with it. Arrived quickly, well packaged and the price was pretty decent. The pieces are solid and work pretty well.Now for the bad news. When this arrives and you open it, you have to tear some plastic, since the pieces aren't already sorted. So you have to check each plastic pack and then figure out where in the case it goes. I spent a good hour sorting this out, since some parts have the same sizing.Apart from that, solid buy here and I do recommend it, whether for home, or vehicle or work use.

The hardcase helps keep all items in order and allows for fast inventory. The quality of the ratchet wrenches has decreased in recent years, because the directional switches are now plastic. (What a shame) I would think the price would decrease if the quality is to decrease. Oh well, overall, a good buy.

You can find foreign made craftsmen items for much cheaper than this. We paid a premium to receive a US made socket wrench kit and did not receive one. In fact, the tool set received also included a receipt FROM SEARS listed for the made in China set. The price on the included receipt was listed at $99.00.Please do not be fooled by the "USA origin" of this product.If you want a NON-US made Craftsmen Set, this will be the product for you.We are returning the set immediately.

The quality of craftsman products is usually good but I was a little disappointed about the case and packaging for the tools. All the sockets are packaged in different plastic bags and have to be arranged into the various compartments within the case which is very tedious. As with most tool sets, the pieces tend to clamp in the various areas allocated for them to avoid shifting around, misplacing them or having the fall out all over the place when the case is opened. However, this is not so with this set. The pieces just sit there in each spot and are loose. That particularly, made me rate this 3 out of 5 stars.

Despite these tools being made in the US, the ratchets aren't the quality they used to be.It's a good starter set and the lifetime replacement warranty at any Sears is a plus.

I purchased this as a gift for my hubby since he is a truck driver. He loves it except that one socket was missing but it was not worth returning over one socket. The only problem I can say is that DO NOT OPEN WHEN IT IS STANDING UP LIKE IN THE PICTURE. You will end up putting all the pieces back together again. The box is so easy to open that a 2 year old can do it.
