Used around my small azalea
The amazon listing suggests this for orchids, but I'm not sure it would be great for orchids, as it seems to hold too much moisture and may rot the roots of an orchid. I ordered this to use around my azalea shrub, as they like a more acidic pH. I'm hoping that the mulch will add some acid to the soil around the azalea. The small package was the size I needed for my one azalea shrub. The price at $5 for this size bag is fairly reasonable and in a manageable size. Very happy with this order.

Very good
My orchids seem to like this. It's not a huge bag, but it was enough to mix with the orchid bark I was using to repot 4 orchids, and I had some leftover. I don't think it did anything for drainage, but I feel like it does help with moisture retention and aeration.

You pay full price for half a bag. Ripoff
Such a rip off! The bag comes vacuum sealed and when you open it, it’s half way full of mulch. I was so mad. I barely had enough to cover my small lime tree that is in a small pot! If you have something bigger, this will not be enough because this company will rip you off! My picture is before opened and after I opened the bag. I hadn’t used any! Last picture should be my small lime tree pot with the entire bag used. Do not recommend.

Great Mulch for Orchids
I recently decided to give the Rotting Pine Needles Mulch a try for my orchids and indoor potted plants, and after using it for a few weeks, I’m quite impressed with its performance. This organic mulch offers several benefits, making it a great choice for gardeners looking to provide the best care for their plants. The mulch is made from decomposed pine needles, which gives it a natural, earthy appearance. It has a soft, spongy texture that feels great to the touch, and it provides a clean, tidy look when spread around plants. The color is a muted brownish tone, which blends nicely with both indoor and outdoor garden environments. One of the standout features of this mulch is how well it works with orchids. Orchids, particularly those in pots, benefit from a well-draining medium, and the rotting pine needles provide just that. The mulch helps retain moisture in the soil while allowing excess water to escape, preventing root rot. It also improves aeration, which is crucial for orchids and other delicate indoor plants. As an added bonus, the natural acidity of the pine needles seems to be beneficial for plants that prefer slightly acidic soil, such as orchids and other acid-loving houseplants. I’ve noticed that my orchids have shown increased vigor and better root health since I started using this mulch.Beyond orchids, this mulch is also great for general landscaping and potting mix. It works well in garden beds, flower pots, and containers. I used it around some shrubs and perennials, and it effectively suppresses weeds while providing a natural look. The texture of the mulch allows it to stay in place acksWhile this mulch offers a lot of benefits, there are a few potential downsides to consider. The decomposed nature of the pine needles means it can break down fairly quickly in some conditions. In hot, dry weather, it might need replenishing after a season or so. Additionally, the scent of rotting pine needles can be quite strong when first applied, though it does fade over time.Overall, I highly recommend Rotting Pine Needles Mulch for anyone looking to improve the growing conditions for their orchids and indoor plants. It provides excellent moisture retention, superior drainage, and works well in a variety of environments. Whether you’re looking to enhance your garden’s health, create a sustainable potting mix, or add a touch of nature to your indoor plant collection, this organic mulch is a reliable choice.

big bag of dried needles for my terrarium/Vivariums.
I got this for putting on topsoil of my terrariums, vivariums and growing seeds. This keeps the moisture down, adds a nice loon and also great for moms orchids. Is a large flat bag of dry needles and not rotting smells dry and has a nice odor.Small bag of considering would be able to do 8-24 orchard pots, depends on how small should last.Good for emulating ground base for habitats. It adds a nice texture and looks cool.Only thing it's listed as Rotting pine needles, thought would be more Much and damp like the moss and other stuff I get for the hobby, but I should be able to soak it to get some tanners.Item ordered:MAQIHAN 11 OZ Rotting Pine Needles Mulch for Orchid - Organic Mulch for Garden Mulch for Landscaping Orchid Potting Mix Mulch for Indoor Potted PlantsMAQIHAN 11 OZ Rotting Pine Needles Mulch for Orchid - Organic Mulch for Garden Mulch for Landscaping Orchid Potting Mix Mulch for Indoor Potted Plants 11/19/2024

Don’t Recommend > AWFUL SMELL > Maybe if your potted plants stay outside. My kitchen
Smells horrible! I repotted my small orchid pots on my kitchen windowsill. Man does my kitchen stink like poop! I wish I spent a little more and bought a name brand product.

My orchid loves this
I had a busted old orchid that really needed some TLC - I repotted her in this new soil, and she seems really happy again. I’m getting root growth and the leaves are looking good.
