Good for my 5yr old beagle
Have a 5year old beagle that’s been on this food for about 3 years and it has helped maintain her weight at 25 lbs. I walk her about 2 miles a day and she has had no health problems at all!! Very happy beagle!!

There is pieces of stringy, cobwebby substance entangle with the kibbles throughout the bag?
Why does this bag of dog food have pieces of stringy, cobwebby substance entangle with the kibbles throughout the bag? I am afraid to feed it to my dog. How do I get my money back for this purchase? I have already dumped the bag of food into my container that houses the dog food. It appears that this dog food is old.

Good weight mgt option
I wanted a chicken free diet food for my chonky Labrador... This has some chicken, but seems to be low enough that there's no paw licking and such. He took some time to adjust to it, but likes it ok now. I do mix in a little canned food and pumpkin/fiber supplement to firm up the poops... So far so good. A little pricey, but I'd rather have quality food for my boy. He has dropped a few pounds in a few weeks.

My pups love this forumula!
We've had our pups on Science Diet for a while and noticed that they never quite felt satisfied with this formula. No matter the amount given, my 50-pounder always came to me asking for more. So, right when we were about to start looking for a different formula, we happened upon this one and thought to give it a try.Ingredients: 5-starsThe first three ingredients of this formula are meat products (deboned beef, beef meal, and fish meal). This is important, as good parents know, because so many of the low-grade foods contain corn products or other fillers that are not good for our babies. I was also happy to see some fruit products built into the formula. Long ago we had my pups on a food that had dried cranberries, peas, bananas, carrots, and potatoes and the manufacturer discontinued the line. We have not been able to find something comparable. To see antioxidants built into this formula shows me the manufacturer cares about making a food we can depend to be good for our pups and that we'll continue buying.Taste: 5-starsYes, we tasted it. I have to say this product is less bland than some other brands we've tried. What this means is the more I can taste it, the more my dogs can taste it. I've learned that because their taste buds are sensitive, most foods that seem bland to us are, in actuality, flavorful to them. The taste is like a watered-down beef stew and my pups went to town on it.What pups thought: 5-starsWhen we first got this bag, we had it sitting next to their food container. We opened it and scooped in just enough to start integrating the new product with the old (so as not to upset their tummies). The food container is at the back of the house by our pantry. Our living room is toward the front of the house. For a few days, our dogs wouldn't lay in their beds in the evenings while we watched a little bit of before-bed tv. They had opted to go lay on the rug that sits between the kitchen and the garage more toward the back of the house. We had no idea why. When we would try to shoo them to the living room, they got all grouchy and started complaining. They would move, but they would just go right back. After a while we figured out what was happening. They were guarding the new food! We had never seen this behavior before and had no idea what to do. So we mixed the entire bag with their old food and let them have the empty bag. They licked and licked, and when they were done with it, we threw the bag away. The behavior stopped instantly. Bizarre, but told me everything I needed to know - they loved this food.

Having trouble finding an adult food our 1 year old pup will eat -- he likes this one!
We have a French bulldog that is just over a year old. We fed him the salmon based puppy food recommended by the breeder, which he really enjoyed for the first year. But he isn't really interested in eating the adult version of the same food. Odd, because he will eat all sorts of things he finds outside, if we let him. I started out with adding 10% of the adult food for a week, and then went to 25% and then 50% in the next few weeks, and that is where he would no longer eat it. I then tried a different brand, which he also didn't seem to like. I have been adding a small amount of shredded beef and the liquid I cooked it in (just for him, so nothing else added) to entice him to eat. This works, but I have been looking for an adult dog food that he will like and will agree with his digestion. This Rocky Mountain recipe featuring red meat (beef, lamb, venison) that also contains salmon meal sounded as if it would be a great one to try. It contains A picture of the back of the bag showing the full list of ingredients is shown in the product description, but using the expanded view, I still found the print too small and difficult to read, so I went to the brand's website for this information + the nutritional analysis. Because of the way it is formatted, I wasn't able to copy and paste it here, but it is easy enough to find.I like the inclusion of oatmeal, barley and brown rice, all grains our pup already eats, but none of the grains I don't want. The dog food consists of small, tan-colored triangular kibble that is small enough to be easy for our little dog to eat. The round life-source bits (vitamins & minerals) are much smaller and darker colored. So far, our pup seems to enjoy this recipe -- I started out letting him eat small amounts of this dog food out of hand as a sort of treat, and he is now eating it mixed with his old food (25% new) and finishing his portion. He hasn't experienced any digestive upset. I'll keep him at 25% for a week to 10 days and then try 50% and if it continues to work out well, completely replace the old food. At $96.99 for a bag containing only 28 pounds, this food is considerably more expensive than the dog food he has been eating (and I thought that was pricey!) but it appears to be well formulated of quality ingredients and I like that it is made in the USA.
