Ideal and well designed for my average sized cat!!!
This door works perfect for my cat! After accidentally leaving my poor kitty outside in a thunderstorm, I needed a way so she could access our screen porch on her own. This door is made for screens (which is how I use it) or thin doors (it’s says up to 1/2, but it actually fits up to 3/4 an inch). It took some enticing with treats, showing her multiple times how to use it and holding the door open until she got comfortable enough to use it, but after about a week, she was using it on her own. I like the four way lock system, it’s easy to use. And I like the size, price and color of this door. I put the top of the door 10.5 inches from the ground so that my cat could push on the bottom of the door and her tummy wouldn’t drag across the bottom (not many cats like their tummies touched!). My cat’s shoulders are 7.5 inches tall, her ear tops are at 10 inches and she weighs 11 lbs. This door is ideal for her and I highly recommend for screens or thin doors on small-average sized cats!!!

Easy Install, Hole Template Included, Tinted!
I love this cat door and I am so glad I bought this one. I have an exterior wall in the garage that is 1/2 inch thick and this cat door works perfect. I just put the template on the wall, traced with a pencil, and cut the hole. No measuring needed. I did use a level to make sure the line was straight across the top before I made the cut though. I was not expecting the flap to be tinted, its almost like sunglasses or window tint would be. This was an extra plus for me as it is not possible to see in. The cat goes in and out freely but at night I just set it to "In only" so she can come in and stay in. + Excellent Price + Easy Install + Tinted! + Template + Hardware Included - Screws & Plugs + Super Quiet - Near Silent + Magnet Holds Flap Down + Two way, One Way, or Locked + Easy to Adjust Locks - Pinch and Slide + Clean Look + Cat Loves it and my dog cannot fit....perfect!! - There are no cons here _Bottom Line_ Yes, I would recommend this to a friend for sure. I would also buy another Cat Mate in the future if I need one. The price for the quality is just awesome. This is a durable little cat door that installs in minutes. Tip - Be sure to read the description and get the thicker (more expensive) one if the material/door you are installing this in is greater than 1/2". The back plate will not attach if the wall/door is thicker than 1/2 inch. Easy 5 Stars

Awesome/Can get interesting...
We have 4 cats and decided they needed to learn to go in/out by themselves. This door was easy to install, once we managed to cut our way through the metal of the door. It’s secure and looks great from the outside. The inside is not as pretty looking. It would have been nice if the front piece and back piece extended further in to each other cover the gap (foam, insulation) that is now exposed from cutting into door. I included a pic for reference. It doesn’t look bad but would be nice if I didn’t see the inside of the door. This door has a pretty strong magnet and one has to nudge pretty good to get it to swing open. Now for the interesting part of this review. My cats are indoor/outdoor and are avid hunters. This door has been installed for almost 4 weeks and I honestly didn’t think it was being used. I was wrong. I’ve also come to realize that they apparently have been missing out on leaving me “gifts” from their hunting adventures. A few mornings ago I awoke to find some feathers, what looked to be a stomach and two bird legs neatly position on my bedroom floor. Somehow I slept through this meal. Then two nights ago, my cat, Butters, hopped on the bed. I realized then that he was using cat door because I knew I’d let him outside. Anyways, something seemed off when he jumped on the bed. I turned on the lamp and surprise! He had a mouse hanging out of his mouth! Standing on my bed! I did a little praising of his skills and tossed him out. Next morning he strolls in and we hear this crazy sound- he’s now brought a cicada in. Needless to say, this has been an adventure. Lol. Would I recommend the door? Yes. Just be aware that you might start getting “gifts”.

Very nice cat door.
This is a very well built pet door for a cat or small dog. It was easy to install. It actually comes with a template so you can cut a perfect hole. As many others have said, this door comes with screws that are only long enough for a door that is 1/2 inch thick or less, like a storm door. You could use it for any door, but you would have to buy longer screws. The door seals well when closed and it actually snaps into the closed position almost magically (I could not figure out how it does it, it does not have any springs). The door has two locks; one to prevent the door from opening inward and another to prevent the door from opening outward. When both lock are disengaged the door will open either way and when both are engaged, the door will not open at all. I found this two way locking system very useful. We live out in the country, so our cat wonders a lot, especially on days we want to take him to the vet. We just set the door to open inward only, and the next time he comes in for a drink, he can't get out. I recommend this product for anyone with a cat or small dog.

Pet Door Works Great, Maybe TOO Great!
"Spot the Cat" is our Indoor/ Outdoor cat and master of his domain. We recently went on a week long vacation and there was no way anyone could be here often enough to let our monster in and out. So we decided a cat door was the perfect solution. As you can see in my photos, we installed it in a window in the kitchen. And since it is on the windy west side of the house, we built a box out the back with an opening on the side. This design really helps cut down on the wind pressure that might cause drafts. Once in stalled, we absolutely did not let Spot in or out of any other door, but pushed the flap a little and coaxed him out. When he wanted back in at the front door, we went outside and tenderly coaxed him to press his head to the flap and in he went! After just a few days of this he went in and out very well on his own. As I mentioned, with the door on the windy side of the house, there can be some pressure on the flap making it a bit more difficult for him to exit the house, but he has mastered it and it's fine. I think in our case, going the extra mile and building a small box outside the window with a side door helps a lot. This door can be set to only allow entrance, only allow exit, or swing in or out. The opening is edged in brushing that works very well to keep the door from freely blowing in the wind while allowing the cat to push and easily get in or out. Now for the downside. Since installing our Kitty Door, Spot the Cat, who apparently hunts for sport, as showered us with a variety of vermin, some alive, some dead, some in between. My husband and I have cornered and "neutralized" several mice, moles, and I think a small rat, in our house just in the last 2 months. If anyone has any ideas on how to stop the carnage, I'd be happy to hear it.

Great door for kitties
We installed this in our garage door. The install was very easy and straightforward. It works great for our skittish, somewhat ignorant cat. We have had our problem with a juvenile raccoon who kept getting into our garage and ransacking the place, all the while leaving excrement on everything. He has since disappeared, only to be replaced with our neighbors cat who attacks our cat, eats his food and hisses at us. The door does have a locking function so you can lock your kitty in (or out) at night, limiting unwanted guests. Currently, we are looking for an electronic door since our neighbors cat is such a menace.

Excellent. Swapped 2-way locking door for a 1-way that was already installed. No new sleeve needed.
I'm reviewing this in case anyone is in this specific situation, so I can save you some frustrating research and extra expense. I had the 1-way locking door, installed with the sleeve insert for a hollow door. I never used the lock. I just used the cat door to allow my cat to come in & out of my bedroom without my having to leave the door open. Then I got a kitten. Turns out, he had ringworm. So I had to keep him separated from the resident cat. The 1-way lock wouldn't work. I needed to keep him in, and her out. My bedroom door is crappy, and the handyman who installed the cat door was crappy (he did a botched job...cut the hole took big, and crooked, and filled the extra space with putty...), so I was so afraid to remove the old cat door and sleeve and install a new one. Will the holes be stripped?... Will the putty fall out and leave gaping holes?... Will my door literally fall apart if I fussed with it.?... I called the company to find out if I could keep the sleeve in place and just swap out the door. Were they compatible? They looked the same. But I couldn't get a satisfactory answer, as they have two different versions of model numbers for the same products. I wasn't sure which model I had. The rep ultimately said no, a swap wouldn't work. He did suggest that I just buy replacement lock clips that will just pop on to the old door. They're only available on their site, though, and shipping would take a while. (So spoiled with fast Amazon Prime shipping!) And I was still afraid that, because of the confusion over model numbers, that the clips wouldn't fit after all. I had to solve this fast. Coz ringworm. So I took a chance and bought this new 2-way locking door WITHOUT the sleeve, hoping the swap would work. It did. Yay! I just re-used the old screws and screw caps with the new door, and I kept the new ones that came with the new door as backups. Whew! So I hope this helps someone in the same situation.

Dangerous door in cold climates
Danger....Origanally I thought these doors were ok. I have installed many cat doors without issues. These were a little harder because I needed longer screws based upon the thickness of my door. Really not a big problem. I'm pretty handy and have that kind of thing sitting around the house. The cats have used these doors for about 4 months and just yesterday my cat got locked out in 9 degree weather. He is mostly an outdoor cat but comes in when it is cold or the weather is bad. In this case, the door malfunctioned and would not let him back in. In the morning, he was still not home. We were very concerned and looked for him everywhere. It was the coldest night of the year and we thought we had lost him. So I decided to check the cat door, It was jambed!!! It turns out a piece of the weather stripping from the door came loose and lodged in such a way as to not allow the door to swing properly.. locking my cat outside. There is a happy ending. 1. I fixed the door by removing the weather stipping and it works not but leaks air. 2. The cat came home - tired but he is ok. I would not buy this door if you live in cold climate or I would remove the weather stripping so that it can't come loose adn jam the door.
