These are smaller than the original Aerogarden baskets, sponges, and lids, but they do fit into the holes and aren't going to fall through the deck. Note that the sponges do expand when they get wet. Upon receiving them, they look really shrivelled. The cute markers can't really be used in an Aerogarden, but Idoo hydroponic units have holes by each plant for the markers.I have included a photo of this product in my Idoo unit with the marker as well as a photo of a basket and lid in an Aerogarden unit and comparison to one of my Aerogarden plants. I didn't photograph the stickers, but they're cute and do have a lower blank section you can write on.Yes, they're smaller. If you're trying to propogate a plant from a stem, I suppose that the sponge size might make a difference. Or if you put one shorter basket mixed with longer units, I suppose the short one might dry out sooner if you let the water run low. (Aerogardens, as long as you don't get the new 2.0 that cuts out features in favor of lower pricing, normally pump water to the grow deck so as long as the pump is working, the sponge will be periodically bathed in water anyway regardless of length.). In general, though, I don't think that sponge or basket size will make a bit of difference, at least in the Aerogarden and Idoo units. Since they're less expensive, I see no reason to not recommend them. I have found no problems with these.

I was looking for a kit that would include everything I need to restart my hydroponics garden other than the water tank and light, and this kit had it all. It includes all of the essentials including the grew baskets which many of the other kits did not have. I appreciate the little plastic domes so you can see when the seeds have sprouted instead of having to check under the stickers. Best of all the entire kit is a better price than those with half as many useful parts.

It's a nice replacement or supplementing kit for a hydro-garden at a reasonable price! I wanted this especially for the stickers. I know that seems silly, and it seemed so silly to me when I first set up my hyrdo-garden that I let the kids take the stickers and use them for decoration. Turns out those stickers are very useful! I still don't understand the seeming autogenesis of algae, but it's yucky. Where does it come from? Mystery. The stickers keep the light down which helps reduce algae growth.Anyway, the little sponges are fine -- very similar to what my early edition aero-garden uses. If you have the kind that uses more of a square socket, you could still use these but you might need to be a little creative. It's possible though -- you can cut the little grow sponges with scissors and mix and match if you need to. The covers look good too although I don't use them anymore. (Seems to work ok without them, but I'm sure it depends on what you're growing!

I used this in my aero garden, put everything in about a month ago and so far there has been nothing sprouting or growing. I'm not sure why it isn't working, as usually I start seeing growth within the first week of putting seeds in the pods. I like that this kit comes with everything you need, but I'm just not seeing the success of growth like I should. At this time, I can't say that I'd recommend this kit.

If you've priced the official refill kits from the big name brand hydroponic garden companies, you know how expensive they are for a tiny amount of product. I got addicted to hydroponic gardening last year and I absolutely love having fresh herbs, peppers, and tomatoes available to me year round, especially since I live in an area with a ridiculously short growing season. My goal is to never again have to buy (questionably) fresh herbs at the supermarket, but this means I'm constantly using up the grow sponges for my hydroponic gardens. I also managed to lose and/or break a few of the baskets, so I'm also really glad this kit comes with baskets as well. I did learn you can 3d print them easily enough, but this is less work for me and I can save my filament for other projects. Really happy with this order and I'll definitely be ordering more in the future when it's time for my next batch of seeds to start.
