JUST OK
I am always searching for bowls to slow down my fast eating weimaraners, so I bought 2 of these bowls. At first it slowed them down to 5+ minutes which was better than 1 1/2 minutes for 2 1/2 cups of dry dog food with a little water in a regular bowl twice a day. However, they figured out how to eat in 3 minutes after 2 days. We have had better success with their Northmate Interactive Feeders which slowed them down to 10 minutes at first. Now after several months of use, they are down to 6 minutes and seem to be holding. Perhaps the Flower Slo- Bowls will work for smaller dogs than my huge 100 lb+ big boys. In the meantime, I will my eyes open for bowls which may or may not slow down my boys even more.

I am happy with this product
I am happy with this product. I purchased this, as well as a the PetSafe Busy Buddy Kibble Nibble Meal Dispensing Dog Toy (Medium), in an effort to slow down my Vizsla pup who wolfed down her meals in seconds. Instead of finishing her meal in about 30 seconds in a normal round bowl, this slows her to maybe 3 minutes. Initially, it took her maybe 5-7 minutes to finish a meal, but it didn't take long for her to figure out she can walk around the bowl and speed eat :) I do like that the bowl can hold about 2 Cups of kibble and that the pink-colored feet on the side to make it more difficult for the pup to flip over. I recommend the flower shape over the other options.

For gluttonous dogs, but watch the smart ones
Does your dog eat too fast? Does it often hack up unchewed kibble projectiles at speeds approaching the speed of sound? Does it throw up a lot? Then you should really invest in a Slo-Bowl.We've called my dog a "kibble cannon" for years because she eats so fast, she often coughs up kibbles after feasting. Seriously, you could feel the kibbles ping off your feet through leather boots. This was a hazard for everyone in the house. I did a fair amount of research on slow feeding bowls and techniques, and I settled on the Slo-Bowl flower pattern. I was worried she'd accidentally consume the steel balls you throw in their regular dishes, I try to discourage eating anything she finds on the grass (so the fake grass mats were right out), and frankly the other patterns looked way too easy for her. We're all happier and safer now that she's eating out of this bowl. Now, this thing takes up a lot of real estate. It is about twice the size of her old bowl, which was the large non-skid stainless steel bowl. It doesn't fit on the fancy food-and-water mat that the dishes sit on. But it doesn't do a lot of roaming, even when she's intent on sucking every last kibble out of the nooks and crannies. The flower pattern keeps her from using her narrow snout too effectively. What used to take her 20 seconds to consume now takes her about 3 minutes, which is exactly how long it takes our other, polite dog to eat her food by crunching each kibble individually to complete mush before swallowing. Also, I don't put wet food into this bowl. It's apparently dishwasher safe, but I don't have a dishwasher, and I'm not going to scrub the dog's dish out after each meal. I just switch her back to her old dish for wet/sticky foods, and there's no clean-up needed on this. It has a lot of hard-to-reach corners that would make hand washing a chore.WARNING - if only one of your dogs needs a Slo-Bowl, watch them during feeding times. I wondered why my polite eater was losing weight after buying the Slo-Bowl (because it wasn't for her, and I didn't change her diet at all). It turns out my fat vacuum dog had moved into my polite eater's normal dish, leaving my polite eater to waste away. This bowl is NOT for dogs who eat slowly (duh). It's always the smart ones you've got to watch out for.

Product is good quality. Not happy with this design
Product is good quality. Not happy with this design. The dry dog food we use has largish pieces and they just got stuck in the design. Our dog gave up trying to get it out and it looked too frustrating. I actually meant to buy the dish with circular pattern but got confused with all the designs in the end and picked wrong one. It may work better with fresh meat or tinned dog food, but it was a waste of money for us. Too late to exchange it as I threw the box out. I will have to find some other use for it.

Great for my pit/lab
I have a 1yr old pit/lab mix.. He used to calmly eat his food and as he got older, he just started gobbling his food in less than 2 min. And each time he was fed, it was about 2 cups worth of kibble. Since he was a puppy, he's had a very sensitive digestive system. Everything about it was sensitive, from his tummy all the way to his poop. So when he started inhaling his food, he also started regurgitating it shortly afterwards. It became a habit and I had to feed him more times a day in small increments.Eventually I got fed up with it and started looking up slow feed bowls since I saw one on the dog whisperer not too long ago. This one was funky and different. And it provided my pup a nice challenge because of the size of his snout. The bowl itself looks great. My dog is a moderate chewer and likes to chew on plastic and rubber. It's safe to say after a month of use, he has not tried to chew on this bowl at all. He actually sits patiently when it's feeding time. And when the time comes, he goes to work.It now takes him about 10 minutes to finish 2 cups of food. And at times he eats half, takes a water break, and will come back to it later. And he will finish it completely! It's a nice challenge and he absolutely loves it.No more throw up! Happier at feeding time. Happy pup = happy owner!

They mean SLOW!
We bought this for our 7y.o. lab mix who has some food issues. We'd tried big rocks in her food bowl and, based on how that didn't work, we weren't sure that the basic slow-feeders with a raised middle section would be enough. This bowl was the answer. It has slowed her eating from 60 seconds to over 5 minutes for 1.5c of food. The only issue is that the pattern in the middle of the bowl is deeper than the ouside edges, causing her some difficulty reaching the food. Granted, she's a sad rescue case who doesn't see well and is missing all her front teeth. We just help her out with the last few pieces. Overall, a great purchase and well worth the money.

This bowl has slowed my greyhound down from eating her ...
This bowl has slowed my greyhound down from eating her food. She used to bolt it down in the mornings in 30 seconds. Now it takes alot longer and gives her mind something to focus on , when I leave for work she hardly notices.

Perfect for your frenchie or dog with smaller snouts.
Great for our french bulldog who gobbled down his food. The others are a bit too 'tall' so her face couldn't get in easily and I was afraid she would poke out her eyes with excitement. This one is perfect for dogs with shorter snouts! Her eating time went from 15 seconds to 15 minutes, eventually she got the hang of it and it takes her about 5 minutes now.

What a grwat invention!!!!
Our german shepherd used to eat his meal within a couple of minutes. With the slow bowl, he is the last to eat now...we actually enjoy watching him "battle the bowl". It's a good idea to have more than one style so it keeps them on their paws...

From less than a minute to 8 minutes = it works
My Bloodhound used to eat her meal in less than a minute. It now takes her about 8 minutes. The dish itself is made of durable plastic that she can't chew or bite and it is easy to rinse out. I love this product and would highly recommend it for any breeds prone to bloat.

Awesome product!!
We have a black lab who is a HOOVER. This bowl slows her down considerably. I have noticed she no longer coughs after eating kibble as well. Likely from the fact that she has to eat at a slow pace now. Highly recommend if you have a dog who vacuums up its food!
