So close to being great but incredibly unreliable
In summary: This product is incredibly unreliable, and definitely not worth the money, although customer service is goodNow, the long version. First off, let me start by saying that when this product is working, it is great! Motion detection, beautiful clarity in the videos, great app. Also, the customer service is nothing short of five stars.BUT. The 'when this product is working' part of that is key, because this is incredibly unreliable. I already own the Birdfy feeder, which is absolutely brilliant, so I decided to take a punt on this despite the high price. Taking it out of the box, everything feels very premium and well-designed. This is diminished somewhat by the fact that you have to seal it yourself, which I didn't realise until I'd already put it outside and it developed mould after less than a month (I left the original device outside until the new one arrived - see below). Not what I'd expect from a product at this price point. The main issue, however, is the reliability of the cameras. The first device I ordered was a complete nightmare to set up - just wouldn't connect to the internet, wouldn't recognise the QR code you need to scan etc. Eventually got it working and put it outside, but within a week, the video feed stopped working. After spending two hours with customer service running through every troubleshooting option imaginable, they sent me a new device free of charge, and told me I didn't have to bother sending it back. After waiting for over a week for the device to arrive, initial impressions were that it was far better than the first one - connected immediately, was outside within 15 minutes of taking it out the box. I thought I must have just got a dodgy one the first time. Lo and behold, a week later, and the video feed has stopped working again. Given that all of the troubleshooting requires you to take the box down and access the inside of it, I decided that it wasn't worth the trouble, as obviously you cannot do this when a bird has started nesting inside, leaving you having paid £230 for an experience you could have had with a normal £10 nest box. Customer service refunded me and again told me to keep the device. My experience with this device is unfortunately very poor. I would potentially be interested in MkII version with more reliable cameras (I have since seen a lot of people on forums like Reddit who have had the same issue saying that the camera connections rely on outdated technology). However, customer service is excellent, so can't fault the company for that.

Very temperamental, poor
Bought the birdfy bamboo feeder, love it, superb quality and works as it should, decided to buy the bamboo nest box... OMG, it's camera system is beyond poor, so temperamental, works, stops, one camera works, then non, unchanging and resetting constantly, absolute should not be released as a product. No ir, just an led on or off. There are much better options a fraction of the cost. I am quite tech savvy, but this just feels like a unfinished product. Be aware, do not buy if you want to place and leave.

Incredible Product from a Reliable Source
I’ve been using NetVue cameras for years now, different cameras on different properties. The software improvements over the years have been great and the cameras are very reliable. Then I saw the adverts for their birdbox cameras. I’m no twicher but I’ve always liked looking at birds and I would be fascinated to know what breads they are. This Birdhouse is amazing and it is so much more than just a Birdhouse! It is expensive but I have confidence in NetVue so I thought I’d give it a go.The device itself is big! It has that nice solid, quality feel, it’s got cameras on the outside and inside, it has different sized entrances and plenty of room for the birds to setup home. Then we have the software. If you are in any doubt about buying one of these just install the app first! The software does all the camera stuff you would expect but it also has AI bird recognition (which is awesome), a community option where you can share your video feeds and you can see video feeds that others are sharing (hence installing it to check out the quality).I’m excited to see how this performs and I’ll update the photos and video when I get a bird move in!

Could be great if it works reliably
Very hit and miss! Great idea if it works, or when working, temporarily, but I was unlucky.Customer service is 5 star, but unfortunately the product is not.I have a Birdfy camera feeding station in the garden which is brilliant, apart from needing to be charged up every week, for which I use a portable charger, which is the reason I ordered the nest box.My first box arrived and was set up with some difficulty, and worked perfectly for 9 days, apart from the battery dropping alarmingly after a few days.( It was foggy for several days, which might have caused this, ie no sun.)It then lost connection and had to be bought in for charging and the on line help live chat. Tried all the suggestions with no success. The cameras connect for up to 30 mins then go off, unless you have it on live stream permanently. You can’t look at settings, or come out of the app. without loosing the connection and having to press re set, which is impractical with a nest box, once it has residents.A second box was sent out to me, but this one would not charge past 47%,and that after 3 days! Consequently it wouldn’t update. It then stopped charging altogether with no lights coming on when charging. Customer service suggested sending the update on an SD card, but without the device coming on at all I couldn’t see the point, and asked for a refund. This was arranged within a few days, with no need to return either box.I can’t help wondering if the fact that the product was reduced to £229.99 had anything to do with my bad luck. Both devices batteries had a date of January 2024 on them, and as they have to be run down for air travel and have then sat on a shelf for a year has this affected them?

Do not buy…
After trying a nest box and a replacement- attempts to get the firmware to work and 2 weeks on with support- finally got a refund .Many problems with this product .Have to varnish it yourself too or will rot in a few weeks outside .
