Expensive but so worth it - your cassettes and ears will thank you
I can’t fault the sound and design - it’s truly beautiful. I really thought with no Dolby NR the tape hiss would be overbearing but no, the amp that has been used is pure quality and produces beautiful highs, mids and tight bass with very little feedback. The one thing lacking which would have been perfect is if a Bluetooth transmitter was built in but I knew this wasn’t present before purchasing - maybe a newer model will address this missing function. This can be rectified by purchasing a Bluetooth 3.5mm jack (slots into the headphone jack) and you can then transmit the players music to Bluetooth headphones/speakers etc - a simple fix for £10 or so. If you’ve been searching for a quality modern day portable cassette player you may have just found it

Old cassettes get new life
Good solid cassette player, I can now listen to my old tapes including old radio programmes. Purchased from seller Amazon US c£87 with no additional tax etc. There is hiss when playing but I soon got used to it. It's a solid machine. Website Audioreviews hints that battery could be replaced amongst other user adjustments. A good buy.

FiiO CP13 cassette Player
Good heavy item. Good at charging up. Nice it was transparent. Very loud even at half volume. The downside it was very expensive for what to was.

I think, this is best quaity player You can buy in 2025 - but only for type I tapes.
Waiting for version 2.0 It is good device, but few things are will make it perfect. If You using with Fe (type I) it is nothing wrong. Maybe two things - initially everything feels so tight in tolerance (it was tricky to fit casette and close door - but it become more slack and easier over time) At first run need few minutes to grease spread out for mech running smoothly. But this is normal for new machines - be aware of this. Volume output is loud - louder than anything i used before - i advise to start with very minimal volume and try to steady increase volume - it is painfully loud at 50% ;). Noises are reasonable - nothing more than usual. --- If You using Cr tabes (type II) is bad, due to this type audio characteristic - this is sound wrong - no tape selector or simple eq "bass boost"... Still You can play these tapes - but not best experience. It has good value - but unforunately i only can recommend for type I tapes.

Forget about refurbishing your old Walkman
For the first time cassette player gets the attention to quality it really deserves. I've tried a couple of cheap Chinese cassette players but as expected their build quality and sound did not even deserve that couple of pounds I've paid for them. I've tried to revive two Walkmans. One was in almost genuine state. It worked for like 2 weeks and then burned something in the amp circuit. Still quality of the sound wasn't what I remember from my youth. Now enter FiiO CP13. Simple design, still solid and adopted to current technology. I've tried it with FiiO FD3 Pro and AKG 712. I've used TDK D90 recorded on my Sansui SC-1300. FiiO earphones gave me high performance hit with acuity quite unnatural to cassette. AKG 712 on the other hand gave me that I needed - sound sweet like a honey. I am planning to buy a spare just in case they vanish from the market.

Great retro product
Really good player suitable for going through any old cassettes you may have to find out what’s on them! If you have retro mix tapes then plug in phones and sit back and enjoy. I use it with my Apple AirPods and the sound is excellent.

As anybody in the cassette circle knows, all modern players are kinda junk. They use a "Tanashin mechanism"; a sort of "catch-all" phrase for shoddy Chinese knockoffs of a Japanese budget design meant for car stereos that ceased production around 2009. Every modern cassette player uses this Chinese clone mechanism, because sadly it's the only mechanism still being produced. It's known for poor tape feeding, insanely high wow/flutter (basically the tape playing at incorrect speeds or the sound "warbling"), and other issues. So how did FiiO achieve something so much better? The CP-13 has shockingly good playback quality for a new player. You can plainly see from the motor position and a few other signifiers (like button placement) it's a Tanashin mechanism. But, whatever improvements they've made have paid off, since of any modern cassette player I've used, this by far has the lowest wow/flutter I've heard, thankfully reaching the realm of "you can't notice it with your ears, only if you pull out some equipment to measure it will it show up." Can't say the same about some cheapo no-name players you'll find on this same website... As for sound quality, well, don't expect anything too insane and you'll be happy. It lacks Dolby NR, as Dolby has stopped licensing out that technology for cassette years ago. But still, with a good-condition tape I haven't noticed any serious hissing or crackling issues. Whatever amp they've put in here lets it get reasonably loud, good enough to drive some speakers probably. On my Koss Porta Pro's, around 20% on the dial is reasonably loud, anything beyond that is painfully loud, haha. The build quality is immaculate too; all-metal build, though I got the model with the transparent door, so that bit is plastic. (But, a very sturdy feeling plastic, not some cheap junk.) Buttons ka-chunk nicely just like you remember, the door opens and it loads tapes easily, everything just works, and works well. (I will say I wish it had auto-stop on FFW/RW, but can't complain too much.) Size-wise, yeah, there's been much smaller vintage players, but I wouldn't say this is obnoxiously large. There's certainly bigger ones out there. I will say this though; FiiO, where's the freakin' belt clip!? They even sell a separate case for it... which also doesn't have a belt clip! The heck?! Finally, for value, I'd say easily this is the only modern cassette player worth spending your money on. Yeah, vintage may be better, but some of us don't want 40+ year old electronics that could fail at any second, and want something that's guaranteed to work out of the box for some time.

Me encanta, soy un nostalgico. Suena super bien, lastima que no disponga de un dolby o que no pare la cinta siempre que llegue al final del rebobinado. En fin me encanta!!!
