GET ONE! ! ! !
For the first 4 months we used the WashPOD and it has become one of my go-to baby shower gifts.I realize the whole idea is silly - why use this when you could just use the sink or one of those whale tubs?Simple. Babies LOVE the warm, cozy feel of this that no other infant bathtub can provide. Traditional infant tubs require that the baby lay in a shallow pool of water and be cold and wet during their bath. (How many newborns do you know that HATE bath time?) The sink is great and inexpensive - but difficult and uncomfortable for all involved. The Tummy Tub/WashPOD, however, allows the baby to sink into a warm bath and enjoy that cozy womb feeling again. This all sounds SO romantic and cheesy doesn't it?You'll be saying these SAME cheesy things when you see what magic this tub is on a fussy, inconsolable newborn. Many of the first, elusive smiles and laughs happened when our baby boy was in his WashPOD. It became part of our nightly routine and I have to say, I nearly cried when I realized he had outgrown it. It is SO cute to see them scrunch up into the newborn fetal position in their tub, and to watch their tension and frustration and fussies literally wash away.I would like to respond to negative comments about this tub that you may hear in reviews or online:a. It's hard to clean the baby in there! ! !!Ok. Yes, it is a tight fit. We used this for 4 months, however, and shocker. . .our baby did not come out of it smelling like a gym rat! Even just a quick dunk in there got him perfectly clean enough without drying out his skin. We used California Baby Wash in the water and he would come out smelling SO good and clean as could be.b. OMG they could drown! ! !Babies can drown in a whale tub too! You aren't exactly going to leave them in here and walk away, I hope?c. Ummm. It's a bucket. Why don't I just get the mop bucket out of the garage and use that? This is a special newborn/infant sized bucket. . .and the bottom is lined with foam. It's comfortable and clean for them. Please don't just use a mop bucket.Every friend who has seen our WashPOD laughed at us until they saw what happened when we put our baby in it - and then they were sold. Our little guy is now just a few days shy of 6 months (and currently asleep on my lap!) and he loves his nightly bath in the adult/big tub. I do feel that his early experiences bathing contributed to his love for water and bath time, and can't stress enough how wonderful this product is.

Totally worth a few workable kinks
My husband couldn't believe I bought this. He saw this as a glorified bucket. Very soon after we started using it, he came to appreciate it. There are huge differences between a bucket and the washpod. Washing the baby in a bucket is dangerous. The washpod has features that makes bathing safe and fun. You don't have to use the washpod, but please don't use a bucket. That said, it doesn't come without challenges. Here are a few pros, cons, and tips:Pros:- The included foam base is molded to help stabilize the infant.- The outer plastic also gives extra stability in preventing any tipping over.- The pod also has a height difference from the back to the front (providing support for the baby's head on the high end and giving extra room for the caregiver's arms on the low end).- There are no sharp edges where the baby is placed, so baby can't cut their grabby fingers or their head when wobbling or moving around.- There is one sticker that is provided that helps you remember the water level to use.- Water usage is minimal.- Bath time is soothing and fun with this washpod.Cons:- Because it is made small for baby's comfort and safety, it is hard to scrub her while she's in it and not strain my back.- There is only one water level sticker provided.- I had an issue of the first washpod not including the foam inner base and the second washpod was cracked. But the issue was with the Amazon distributor and was dealt with quickly. Here are some tips I found to remedy the cons:- Getting the baby scrubbed is a challenge ( I have a >16 lb baby and small hands). I scrub her down outside of the tub, especially her lower half and back. Then I put her in the pod, finish scrubbing her upper half, and let her soak.- If you don't soap them up too much, moving them into the washpod (after scrubbing) shouldn't be much of an issue.- I also found that placing the pod on the bathroom counter gave me more control, maneuverability and makes bath time easy on my back.- Read the instructions. It made the intended water level clear and gave me confidence on not drowning my baby.- Give it a few tries before giving up on it. Sometimes, it just takes experience to make people more comfortable and you can iron out your own wrinkles with your own remedies. We've used this washpod since baby girl started gaining head control and we will miss it when she outgrows it.

Review by a Mommy of 4...
My first baby died in my arms. It was an unexpected tragedy unrelated to water. I've since had 3 more babies. And bathing them has always made me feel a little anxious inside. They just seemed the most vulnerable to unexpected tragedies in the tub. My second baby loved the water, so that helped. But as soon as he outgrew the mesh sling, I found that he happened to be a roller. He'd turn his head down to the side and suck in a mouth full of water in a heartbeat. He did not happen to be a breath holder, I found. I made myself brave it out. But most of the time I'd just get in with him. By my third baby, I got a molded infant tub he couldn't roll in. It was great, but he'd get cold. His arms and chest, etc. I found myself constantly wetting and rewetting little washcloths to keep him warm, leaning over the tub all the while. And then I'd need to wash his back. None of these issues were awful, just not ideal. I finally found this product on my fourth baby, and I love it. She seems so happy and secure with calm and warmth surrounding her all the time. I put a little warm water in there and bathe her on our bed. No hyper vigilant leaning. No backache for me. No rolling. No shivering. No switching out washcloths. And she loves it. She can see her own body. She can look through the sides. She has less reflux because she's upright. And it uses so much less water than most other methods. I just pour it in the potty when we're done for an extra flush. All I have to do is watch her chin to make sure it stays above the water, and I feel like I can enjoy her baths as much as she does. She's 4 months old, so I'm curious to see how long she fits well. Either way I've gotten my money's worth already. Also I love that it's clear, so it doesn't take up much visual space in a small bathroom. Quite zen. (Mommy of 4)

Very good but not for long.
We bought this for our second child (we used to dread bath time with our first because she absolutely hated it until she could sit up!). Our son loves this bath, he's extremely laid back anyway but virtually falls asleep in this. It's not very practical for washing him in (it's hard to get your hands down and round the baby to wash them & hair has to be washed and dried before they get in) but he's not very sicky & we've only had a couple of explosive nappies so it hasn't been a huge issue for us because he doesn't really get very dirty yet. For us, bath time at this age is more about relaxing before bed, whilst having a little wash! He's twelve weeks old now though & I don't think he'll fit it for much longer, so it's not as long lasting as other baths but for us the relaxed little smile on his face before bed has been worth every penny!

Really couldn't get used to it
My wife & I tried this bath out for a couple of weeks and finally gave up as it just didn't seem to work as well as a basic bath seat for our main bath. I really liked the water saving aspect, but we couldn't get our son into a position where he didn't need to be held really awkwardly which made bathing him no fun at all

This product was highly recommended by my midwife
This product was highly recommended by my midwife. We used it once. So uncomfortable. You have to keep the baby upright and wash with your other hand but theres not enough space for baby and your own two hands and arms in it. Total disaster.

Our go to
Still using this with my 4 year old. He loved it since birth. Perfect way to bath your little one.

Good design but you have to pay for it
It's just a bucket at the end of the day and it's an expensive one at that. Understand someone has thought a lot about the bucket geometry.
