This does everything I need to simplify and expedite my composting efforts. I love it!
I have been composting for almost 30 years and have tried many different homemade and commercially made composting bins/systems butit has always taken me a year or two to get compost suitable for planting because I never succeeded in getting enough “brown matter” in the mix, since the ratio is supposed to be approximately two parts brown matter to one part kitchen or other green plant matter. My ratio was more like 3/4s kitchen veggie scraps to 1/4 dry/brown leaves and grass clippings. This machine dries my kitchen wastes and chops them into particles that are a bit larger than soil but perfect for mixing in soil and or using as a somewhat fine mulch without any mold! It’s perfect for my gardening needs. It’s very user friendly and can handle items that many if the other composting and or dehydrating machines can, as long as you cut the pieces small enough. I cut my coffee filters, avocado pits, corn cobs and husks into small pieces (approx an inch or two for corn husks, veggie peels, etc and approx 1/2 to 3/3's of an inch for corn cobs-depending on how hard they are- and avocado pits.). I even put the hard stems of large summer and winter squashes cut into 1/2 to 2 inch pieces and it works. The machine comes with a printed instructions manual (Halleluia!) so techno dummies like me can use it. The instructions manual has a list of the things you can and can’t put in as well as the items you can in with special instructions.I love that it has a manual and an automatic mode. I use the manual mode if I want to start it after dinner so I can set it for a couple of hours before I go to bed, because it is noisy. That's the only downside I have found. However running it for a couple hours then leaving it shut all night sometimes dries the content enough to add to the outdoor compost bin or soil. I usually run it another 2 hours in the morning for larger loads. The auto mode runs 4 hours no matter how full the bin is. I like that no plastic touches the compost. The bin is a sturdy metal. There is an odor but it’s not unpleasant. Ours usually has a woodsy smell with a hint if coffee. As some said recently when entering the house “It has a pleasant organic smell.”The unit is nice looking…much nicer than my food processor that sits on the countertop…. Most people that see it think it’s a bread machine.I would caution users to be very careful to securely lock the lids on the charcoal bins and avoid twisting the lids once they are filled and placed in their slot. I could not get my charcoal bins out the first time I tried to remove them. They seemed to be stuck, so I turned what I thought was the whole (small) bin trying to loosen it but it was only the lid that loosened so when I lifted the bin out, the lid detached and the bin full of little bitty charcoal pieces the size of ju-ju beads candy or tic tacs candy, went flying everywhere… I had to pick them out of the compartments of the machine with a long handled tweezers. It took my husband and I around a half hour to clean them all (hopefully all🥴) up. Everything they touched was of course black… I am grateful it was the small not the large charcoal bin that I spilled!Based on the few months I've had the machine, I love it and highly recommend it. I can’t speak to its longevity but I hope it lasts as long as I do!

Every kitchen deserves one
Favorite product I've bought this year. A friend bought the same model 3-4 mos. before & recommended it. The first thing I composted was 18 lbs. frozen egg yolks. (No food banks or animal shelters would take them.) Cooked egg yolks compost easily into fine dirt when mixed with veg./fruit scraps, egg shells and leaves. This machine is high quality, powerful & easy to clean. The only things you can't compost in it are bones, avocado seeds, fruit pits, dessert items & bread. If the compost comes out a little wet, I just put it through another cycle.

Terrible quality/longevity, with terrible customer service
I received this composter back in December of 2024. This was a gift for my wife. It worked great as it was intended for the last 5-6 months. Then one day last week the motor went out and would no turn the blade inside to grind up the contents. It would still heat up and make a weird noise with the motor trying to engage the blade, but it never would. Also, on a small scale, the composter was advertised to come with a pack of charcoal pellets to get you started. Mine did not. I emailed the seller directly and never got a response. So I went and bought me additional filter pellets on my own. I should have taken this as the first red flag back then. So after the composter stopped working last week I re-reviewed the user manual to see if I could fix it myself. This was unsuccessful. I then noticed the warranty information buried in the very back of the manual. They have a "LIFETIME WARRANTY" on this only IF you register this in 14 days of purchase. Since I bought this as a Christmas gift, it sat boxed for almost a month. SO I was unable to register for the Lifetime Warranty. However, there is still a 1 year warranty on this composter. I sent the seller, Fylecen, a direct email, detailed with the main problem, my contact information, and the original purchase date and order number. They do not have any phone numbers listed anywhere for customer service. I received a response asking me to try a few things on my end to troubleshoot the problem. I did what they asked, and the problem still persisted. The motor would not turn and only made a grinding noise. After a couple of days I sent them a response telling them the outcome of their suggestions. They said they would proceed with helping me exchange the unit for a new one, and asked me for my original order number and information. If they had only looked back one message in the thread they would see that I already gave them that information. BUT, I obliged and resent the requested information once more. Then the next day I had a response, but it was a carbon copy of their previous message asking me for my order information to help facilitate my exchange. I responded back with my concerns of them using repeated scripted responses and not taking this issue seriously. I escalated this with Amazon directly who will assist me in a proper resolution. I highly recommend you NOT using this composter through Fylecen, unless you are okay with a machine that will last 4-6 month AND you do not have any expectations in quality customer service from them.

Fantastic appliance you don’t know you need until can’t do without it😁
It is a wonderful appliance! I keep the composted materials in a pail with a lid…on the back deck..there is no odor at all.. and when the pail is full I mix the composted materials with other potting soil which produces some nice rich loam…no more food down my disposal…I could not be happier…

Product quit working and we received a new one.
We used this composter every day and it worked great until it stopped working. We contacted the manufacturer and we received a new one. Very happy with the follow-through to replace the machine!

When the Fylecen Kitchen Composter failed they honored their lifetime warranty.
I purchased this kitchen composter on 9/24 and used it every other day. It worked like a charm to reduce our kitchen waste. and produce garden mulch. At the end of April 2025, the rotor stopped moving but the pail continued to heat up. I contacted Fylecen support. It took a week for them to respond, but they did, and informed me that Amazon would be sending me a replacement unit.
