XHDATA D-608WB - The Best Small Multiband Radio For Outdoor, General Use & DXing! 👍😀
The media could not be loaded. I bought this little Chinese radio just over a week ago - and I've been giving it a good try out. What a neat little thing it is! 👍😀I don't normally do big chunky reviews on electrical products as I'm rarely that impressed with stuff nowadays...... but for this XHDATA D-608WB - I'll make an exception because I'm very impressed - and I wouldn't want you to miss out on this great radio.I took it through it's paces - doing a scan for stations on Medium Wave & FM, and did a couple of quick recordings. Unfortunately Amazon will only allow ONE video in a review - so I have uploaded the video of the FM scan I did in my back garden.Apart from the great reception & audio quality it's also quite a rugged piece of kit - sturdy, well built, and easy to hold. (It also comes with a carrying strap attached). I think it is marketed for outdoor use - trekking, hiking etc - but it's also really good for general listening and DXing (you'll know what that means if you know what that means 😁👍)What surprised me about this XHDATA D-608WB is the number of great outdoor "emergency features" it has. The radio has a "Power Generator" crank handle. So, if your radio is running out of power - you can charge the battery by using the charging handle - what a brilliant idea! And - using the sockets on the side of the radio you can also charge a mobile phone FROM the radio (in case of an emergency & your phone battery is running low). Plus(!) you can charge the radio from an external power source also. This makes it great for trekking outdoors & not having the worry about running out of power.Equally - the radio has a set of solar panels on top which you can use for charging. (Admittedly I've not had much success with this in rainy old England... lol... but a friend of mine out in California says it works brilliantly👍😀)There's also a very bright torch. And a set of LCD lights on top👍The radio also has a massive screechy ALERT button! I did do a video of that - but it was too loud to load up as I didn't want to scare anyone! 😁 But trust me, if you had fallen down a ditch or something, you would certainly attract attention by pressing that button. For American users the radio also comes with preset frequencies for "weather alerts".But apart from it's ruggedness, great radio reception, charging options & emergency bits & pieces - you can also use the radio's bluetooth facility to play your own music through it. And it's so easy to set up - I've included a couple of screenshots of the little video of it showing how simple it is to do (I couldn't load the video as only one video per review is allowed👍😀)And if you have your music on an SD card, then there is the ability to plug that into the radio as well 👍Phew! Honestly - the XHDATA D-608WB is a super bit of kit. It goes well beyond being "just a radio". It's great for the outdoors, general listening, and DXing.Would I recommend it? Of course I would! And at time of writing this review it was under £30! 👍😀You will not find a radio like this that has all these options, looks goods, sounds great & has excellent radio reception across all the bands. You've seen my video and pictures of it's performance, so STOP LOOKING FOR A RADIO - and buy the XHDATA D-608WB - you won't be disappointed.👍😀

Excellent Emergency radio.
Why did you choose this product over others?:I had read good reviews for the XHDATA brand Radios, so I decided to purchase this XHDATA Emergency D608 WB Radio. It seemed sensible to have one that could possibly self charge. This small radio is well constructed and does every thing it says it should do. The Solar panel works, in bright light/ strong sun light, and shows its continuously trickle charging on the screen. The wind up generator appears to work when rotated, and shows it charging with a red LED on the front. I have to say I don't know how long you would have to turn to charge up battery. The Manual suggest a long time. VHF reception is excellent. Medium Wave and Short wave is fair. I connected the XHDATAs long Short Wave wire to the Radios telescopic Arial scanned SW band , and picked up a number world Stations.TF card and MP3 connection work perfectly. Sound quality and volume is surprisingly good considering the size of the speaker. The reading light works, as well as the torch. Just one thing to be aware of , the WB/NOAA Short Wave weather channels do not work in the UK. I understand for that you need a VHF radio /Scanner.Excellent radio for the price

Good bit of kit.
A good standby emergency radio I bought as a companion to my Xhdata D808, with only one issue I've noticed so far.I received this today and noticed that, with a bit of light use, the screen is already scratched. It's a radio, that whilst prett rugged, the screen is plastic so, if you are going to purchase this and minor scratches are a problem for you, bear this in mind. I haven't been rough with it so its a bit disappointing but, in fairness, when the screen is on you can't see the scratches anyway.Otherwise, it's pretty amazing what they have packed into this thing for the price!

Good camping radio.
Good little radio. The solar panel and lights work fantastically well, and the sound is superb for such a small radio. I found the digital search feature for shortband stations not to my liking, so i purchased the xhdata d-338, which had my prefered tuning dial. Recommend. Just found it does have a tuning dial, so, from being very good, it is now a very, very good all round radio. Highly recommended.

Absolutely Brilliant!
This little radio has it all! Two lights ( a torch and a reading light) MW/LW/FM radio, Blue tooth for phone connection, wind up power generator, USB C charging, SOS distress light and alarm, built in long lasting battery. All package in a robust housing with Digital Touch button running! Fantastic! Can’t recommend highly enough. Well worth the money.

Great quality. Very useful. Great sound.
I was trying to find a windup/solar radio that wasn’t low quality. This radio ticks all the boxes for me. Its not to big and feels very solid. You can exchange the 18650 battery which means you can take spares. The solar panel is very efficient. The windup part by its nature is slow but designed for emergencies. The sound quality is genuinely very good although I use it mainly for spoken work audio instead of music. It has a memory card slot so I can take music and audio books with me. The manual is well written. Fab bit of kit and recommend.

Battery does not hold charge. Solar panel does not work after 12 months. Crank handle useless.
Radio battery does not hold it's charge even if not used. Solar panel charging barely makes any difference even though left in full sun. No idea how long hand cranking will take to charge up battery as that does not seem to make any difference either however long you wind it. Radio has too many unnecessary features which all probably drain the battery.July 2025. Just out of warranty.Has now stopped charging with solar panel. Still charges with USB cable. Tried to charge with wind up handle but it never moves from one bar on display however long I crank the handle. I wouldn't recommend this item.
