The Chicago Manual of Style, 18th Edition

This has become my go-to book for writing. "The Chicago Manual Style" is the industry standard for all publications from magazines, online articles, and works of fiction in America. If you have a professional editor editing your manuscript, then they are probably using this book. This book stays on top of my writing desk as it sits beside my PC keyboard. It covers grammar, citations, manuscript formatting, and much much more. It should be noted that the Associated Press uses their own hand book, and universities rely on the A.P.A. and the M.L.A. handbooks for proper citation and bibliographies. Make sure that you are using the right source for your field.

Very comprehensive

Business Writing, Marketing and PR Writing, Evidence based writing, Professional composition are included in this book. As a former English Lit major (switched to Econ), this book helped me understand the fundamentals of general writing, and creative expression. If you want to further improve your composition then please consider buying this book. Yes, it's pricey, and yes, you're likely to hurt your wallet but at the cost of getting a higher understanding.

The CMOS style guide needs no review. This is one of the bibles for any serious writer.

I'll be honest, I was expecting a dry, boring manual. But the editors of this manual knew their audience, and they went for the wit, sarcasm, derision, and inside jokes full throttle.Highly recommended for all the grammar nerds and industry buffs.I mean, obviously, it's still a manual and people should read it for stylistic guidelines, but it's nice to have a manual that's both humorous and informative for those who actually sit down and read it front to back, which is greatly appreciated.
