Exactly what I needed!
This is an outstanding guide and just exactly what I needed as a brand-new birding enthusiast. Concisely written descriptions of over a dozen birding loops, excellent easy-to-follow maps and instructions have made this book invaluable.

Best Houston bird finding book -- and it isn't even close
I initially found this book at the library and after checking it out 4 times decided it was time to buy it.Houston is more or less the center of all the trails described in this book so it could be titled the guide to Houston and surrounding area birds, including the well known areas such as High Island and Anahuac, but also others like the Big Thicket. This book is really well thought out. It is by far the best book I've found for finding birds all within a day's drive from Houston.

Very informative read!
This book starts to fill in the blanks left by the states maps on birding sites published in 1998. As a beginning birder I found this clearly written and concise book for the Texas birding areas extremely helpful. This book tells you exactly where to look for birds all along the Texas Coastal Birding Trail. Fantastic. I can't say enough about the descriptive directions and where each species likes to hang out. Can't wait to go back to some of the sites I tried and drew a blank with the book.

A Better Bird Book!
Texas Gulf Coast birders will want this book. I bought it new to give to a Houston Audubon member who loves birding in the Texas Gulf Coast. The book is well written, the photos are attractive. Good information and directions.

Good info for a birder
Very handy - always nice to get the most information before visiting a new area. Really looking forward to seeing the sights (swamps, mud, marshes, and even a city park or two) that birding leads you to.All of this information is available on the web, but slightly different. This book saves you the work and tightly organizes it. Decent maps and directions.

Birding in Texas Coast
This book was awesome in the information it gave. Buyers should be aware, that the book does what is described on the cover i.e. It is a guide to The Upper Texas Coast and does not go much further south than Galveston. What is sets out to do, is done very well and anyone going to that area of Texas without someone as a guide, could not do better than take this book along with them.
