Wonderful read
LOVE this book! The concept of hurdles can be a bit new for little kids that never heard of it, might of been easier plot line if it was just a running race. And the cats are a bit random. But the silliness and mistakes theme are excellent, loved by ages 2-10 here!

Inspiring
It was good and inspiring (Although I'm pretty sure Millie is a superhero with all the inhuman things she could do) but I disliked how her Mom seemed so proud and supportive and cheered her on in her first race... But didn't notice her daughter got stuck and even abandoned her and went home. Then when Millie gets herself unstuck and returns home, her Mom is like, "Where were you?" And I was just like π€¦ββοΈ really? She didn't even look for her or notice where she went. Aside from that, it was a cute book, I just don't think, in a children's book, it should be viewed as "ok" for a parent to be neglectful. I mean, even the Dad didn't go looking for his daughter. Plus, poor Millie accumulated so many injuries and no one ever took her to the dentist or doctor. π I don't typically review negatively on kids books, because I enjoy people's creativity and usually chock things up to "cartoon logic" (like why do the kids have blue hair and both parents have brown? I'm just assuming they adopted alien kids at this point, lol.)
