So far, so good
We have a legacy Tablo which we purchased in February of 2023. I plugged it in to our main TV, which is downstairs from the router, so it needed to use a wireless connection all of the time. Our over the air antenna is several years old, and outside on the eave of the house. We started having problems with the tablo saying the signal was not strong, etc. This was a free OTA that Dish gave us when they could no longer offer free channels with our subscription. I decided to try a different OTA, and purchased this one which is supposed to have a range of 575 miles or something like that. I tried to get it to work downstairs, but then I remembered that I had a really long CAT 5 cable from when I needed to pulg in my computer at my office. I dug it up, brought the tablo and 4T external hard drive upstairs, plugged everything in to the ROKU TV I have in my office and it took a bit for everything to hook up, but all of the TV's seem to be working great now. I had figured out that I needed to aim the OTA East, and as our house faces east, it needed to be in my office upstairs. Once we did that, it is working fine so far (just completed everything today, we will see if it keeps working as well). Houston is about 40 miles from us, so we may even pick up some Houston stations, but so far the ones from Sugar Land are the closest (5) and there seem to be close to 70 channes so far. Happy now that I figured out what to do!

Really wanted it to work.................
ok, i live less than 30miles from nyc,I cut the cord and use internet like tubi, amazon hulu etc....... problem is they don't supply cbs, nbc, fox, abc ....which are a lot of the programs i watch....I purchased a $15 one that looked like a dinner plate,it received all of them and others but not abc.......so i figured I'd try this more expensive version that promised better results......well no abc or nbc and lot's of pixelation .......maybe it works for some but it was a step backwards for me .....hopefully this is helpful to someone :)

Works with some limitations
Depending on your location and physical barriers, it can work. Able to pick up half of networks with inside location. Picture clear with some pixelation on very windy days. Definitely worth the purchase and was able to cut cable.

This Antenna Helped My Friend Pull In Just Under 50 Over The Air Channels For FREE!!!
I purchased this antenna on behalf of a friend who could not pull in over the air channels on his new SONY flat screen TV. My friend lives in a basement apartment and cannot get a good antenna signal because one of his two windows is obstructed by the house located next door to him. I purchased this antenna for him and placed it in the window that was only partially obscured by the house next door. Installation was easy and we were able to pull in about 46 clear channels for FREE. The small size makes it easy to place right next to the window which increases the chances of you being able to pull in more channels. Now for a reality check. No Over The Air antenna is going to give you reception from 820 miles away due to the curvature of the earth. You'd be most fortunate to get channels from 75 - 100 miles away, at most, but the range would probably falter at around to 50 mile mark due to physical obstructions such as tall buildings, tall trees, electrical interference, etc. This was not a complete success story as he still couldn't get channel 7 (ABC) or channel 11 (PIX 11), but his reception was much improved and he started getting far more channels than he had before, and for FREE, so I consider this a win for my friend and for myself as I didn't have to send it back. I would recommend this antenna to anyone who has a similar problem as my friend and cannot place an antenna on the outside of their home for whatever reason, but remember that the 820 mile claim is a fallacy, at best.

Good for Some, Not for Me
With these antennas in general, the number of channels found depends on your location and on weather and on which product you choose.. As in real estate, location, location. location will be a very significant factor. The signal is very easily obstructed or weakened by by its surroundings, Claims of hundreds or thousands of miles of reach are possible only if there are no obstructions whatsoever in the way of you and the transmitting tower. It would be unusual to be in such a locale., but those who report good results (at least 30 or more channels) may be lucky enough to be so located. Additionally, placement height is very much a factor. I've had no success getting any channels with any antenna when I've connected one to a TV on my first floor. Yet the same antenna placed in the attic above my second floor could draw in several channels. (If I could, I would place such an antenna outside on a pole higher than my roof!)Moreover, I've found that weather affects the strength of the signal in my area, believe it or not. Windy days are bad, as are very clear days in my location. Cloudy, overcast days are, strangely enough, good. I've pulled in over 50 channels on such days as opposed to less that 15 on other days. This variability is very frustrating, along with the stability of the reception. Although an antenna may pull in a large number of channels, they not all be watchable due to this lack of stability or consistency. Also, depending on the brand, the effectiveness of these types of antennas will vary. I discovered this by doing comparison tests between antennas under the same conditions. The reviews of the various antennas of this type vary considerably, making purchase choices difficult. What one person has great success with, another describes as "junk." Both are correct.I have to conclude that these antennas haven't yet reached their ultimate effectiveness. Perhaps soon there will be antennas created that can overcome these limitations. And I'll be buying one.
