Great Little First Guitar! Good Quality and Good Price!
My child has just started guitar lessons at school. She needed a half size guitar (so she could easily reach all the strings and frets) that was good quality, but not a huge outlay in case she started learning and then didn't like it! This has been a great buy! It fits all the criteria we needed, and plus it's purple - her favourite colour!

Not bad for a beginning 5 year old.
We have the blue version of this, but for some reason Amazon won't let us review that one so posting this here instead. Also, ours came from a local music shop but they don't have a reviews system and I wanted to share my thoughts on this instrument as we've had it about a year now. This is her first guitar and she will be moving up to a 1/2 size 34" electric very soon. The guitar is lightweight (I weighed it once, think it was around 1.8kg whereas a full size electric may be 3.5kg) and not too bulky either for an acoustic. The scale length is around 19.4", the back of the neck is painted and finished like the body which looks nice but can feel sticky compared to a faster satin finish neck. These come in a nice range of colours. The metallic blue with the black stripes is really nice and she picked it out herself. The quality of the finish is good, however, the underlying paintwork is a bit sloppy and it really shows in some places, especially around the edges of the fretboard. A small child is unlikely to notice this though and I suppose it is to be expected when you consider this is an entire musical instrument (with extras, although the included strap did not last very long) at such a low price. The fretboard, although it looks like ebony from a distance, is obviously not and is just an unknown wood painted black to imitate a classical instrument.Sound quality is not bad! I was expecting it to sound awful but for what it is, it sounds pretty good. There is probably less bass given the smaller body but there is plenty enough for a beginner. The fret work isn't bad, there are no sharp edges which is especially important for a child's guitar. There's no fret buzz when played with proper technique but the action is quite high. In standard tuning the strings are very slinky which probably makes it easier to play for younger ones.Being a nylon strung instrument, you have to remember that nylon strings stretch for a long time before settling. This means new nylon strings will go out of tune a lot in the first 2-3 days. Keep tuning them up throughout these first days and eventually they will settle. Ours has stayed in tune very well once the strings settled. I did notice that whoever had strung this guitar up at the factory hadn't done a very neat or tidy job with the windings on the tuning pegs or with the knots at the bridge. I restrung the original strings to tidy them up. If yours will not stay in tune but you think the strings should have settled, try restringing them as neat and proper as you can. There are videos online showing how to do this, it is very easy to do and could make a big difference. My biggest issue is with the intonation and not being able to adjust it, which I guess is common for classical instruments. This means certain frets on certain strings may always sound out of tune. On ours, the higher up the fretboard you go, the more noticeably out of tune it becomes. Even putting on new strings and allowing them to settle, the intonation is always sharp by around 20-30 cents at the 12th fret compared with a perfectly tuned 12th fret harmonic. All in all, this is a decent enough starter instrument. With a good choice of colours, your child will be more likely to pick it up and play it just 'cause it looks good. At such a young age, that is probably the most important bit, getting them inspired to pick it up and play.

excellent
I bought the first guitar for my 2 1/2 year old grandson after The Latitude Festival - he became obsessed with the guitar players and his doting Granny rashly promised him a red guitar - I was actually uncertain if such a thing existed for such a small person. I considered a toy one but decided on a proper small guitar as there was little difference in the price.I was delighted with the service - it arrived within 2 days, and also with the product itself. Ok,so the sound isn't amazing but it is a perfect guitar for a small enthusiastic person who just wants to strum along with the music.Mine arrived with a tiny scratch and the company offered a replacement immediately or a discount - I spoke to someone very pleasant and helpful.I also thought it was very good value for money as not only is the guitar itself very good but it also comes with a shoulder strap and carrying case.I am about to order another one for another grandchild - an excellent product for someone tiny who is just showing an interest in music and the guitar.
