Product does what it needs to do
It's nice to get a product that actually just works.I don't use heat-set inserts that often (I usually 3d print the threads), and when I did, I would use my trusty blunt soldering iron tip, which isn't ideal. The result was always sloppy. However, I recently started a project that has several parts that can be mounted and unmounted, which can be a problem with 3d printed threads, so I thought it was a great time to get some real insert installation tips.And, honestly, after using these tips, I think I will use heat-set inserts from now on and stop 3d printing threads. It's faster for me to set the inserts than it was to cut the printed threads (which I still had to do by hand since the printed threads aren't really perfect and I almost never print lower than 0.2mm layer height).I can also confirm that using the M3 tip for M4 works fine - I just set about dozen M4 inserts in a couple minutes and they all came out great. If I had used my regular soldering iron tip, half of 'em probably would have been crooked!

Good quality T18 tip, can be adapted for 900M solder irons
Product finish is much better than shown in Amazon pictures. It was designed for T18 solder irons but can fit 900M solder iron using a small spacer, 4mm ID, 6mm OD, 2mm height such as mcmaster 93295A002 or just chop a ring from the base of a 900M tip and use it as spacer (shown in attached pictures).I have used mcmaster insertion tip 92160A119 for years and based on my experience I would dimension this product slightly different, wider end tip 2.4mm, wider insert shoulder diameter 5.2mm and shorter length protruding from the solder iron sleeve (eliminating the second from the tip section).A few tips:* Make sure to use heat inserts which have a taper end to easy insertion rather than injection molding inserts which are wide on both ends* Don't set the solder iron to a too high temperature that will cause the plastic to emit toxic fumes* Don't press the insert too hard, just use a gentle force and let the heat do the work for you.

Rough machining, but functional
They're honesty pretty rough looking for lathe- turned pieces of brass, but they work. The middle diameter is a little tight in my hakko and required a little force to fit. I've used them plenty though and they've held up well.

Works perfectly for this specialized task
Super easy to install on the soldering iron and start pressing inserts. Even with no practice our first set of inserts came out perfectly. I couldn't imagine trying to press inserts without this tool. Beautiful simple engineering and solid quality.

Perfect fit on hakko-888
These are the best way to put in the inserts to printed parts that I have tried thus far. Simply set your iron at 5c above your materials extrusion temp and apply a bit of pressure and wait for it to slip into place. The tips seem to be cut on a lathe from a piece of brass bar stock, surface finish was perfect where it needs to be a slip fit and rough/knurled were it needs to be on the tip.A set of tweezers or needle nose pliers to help hold the inserts while you get things lined up so you don't burn your fingers is a good idea.

They're fine. It's fine.
The surface finish is not great, and both tools are undersized enough that they are VERY loose, with lots of play on the inserts. They work as intended, but probably won't win any beauty contests.

Worked great in even a generic iron
This would've made installing inserts into a 3D printed toy model Tesla pickup much easier. Worked with M3 inset nicely. The tip seated well and I was able to keep it level as it seated. U iron is a Amber I bought here on Amazon and it had no issues.This manufacturer came suggested in an article and I was glad to see it was available here in Amazon. Recommended highly.

Fits 900m tips without mods
I found these tips to fit my Yihua 8786D (which uses 900M style tips) without modification. I also found that with a minor amount of touch up with a drill against a file edge, I could have perfect fits on M3, M4 and M5 inserts. The shoulder on M3 tip only needed a small amount of reduction to fit M5 inserts. This let me take the M5 tip & reduce it's size down to M4. This lets me cover my 3 most commonly used inserts with a good fit for better heat transfer.
